The sustainability study follows a process that includes three public meetings:
- October 16, 2018 – Presentation by Office of the Superintendent
The first public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Tantramar Regional High School beginning at 7:00 PM. At this meeting there will be an explanation of the process and a presentation of facts in line with, but not limited to, the categories above. The staff of Anglophone East School District will gather and organize information for this presentation. There will be an opportunity to ask questions related to the presentation.
- November 27, 2018 – Presentation by Public
The second public meeting will occur on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Tantramar Regional High School and will allow for interested individuals, stakeholders, and parties to present information to be considered in the decision-making process. This meeting will begin at 7:00 PM. A registration process to present at this meeting will be shared at the first meeting.
- December 4, 2018 – District Education Council Public Meeting
The third public meeting will occur on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Lou MacNarin School (555 Gauvin Rd) in Dieppe beginning at 7:00 PM. At this time, the District Education Council will discuss the study and vote on a final recommendation. (The Council will also be voting on another sustainability study on the Elmwood Drive area schools at this meeting. Lou MacNarin is close to the center of the two study areas for driving purposes.)
That recommendation will be one of the following possibilities:
- Maintain the status-quo
- Close Marshview Middle School and reconfigure Salem to a (K to 5) and Tantramar High School to a (6 to 12)
- Close Marshview Middle School, build a new K to 5 school and build a new 6 to 12 High School
- Consider combinations of items 2 and 3 or another option brought forward during the study
Please note: In an effort to organize an appropriate agenda with manageable timelines, we may need to review the amount of time requested and adjust accordingly.
