On Thursday, January 5th the RES choirs sang the National Anthem at the start of the Moncton Miracles game at the Moncton Coliseum.  Thanks to all members for their wonderful performance and Mrs. Stewart for her great leadership.

 

PSSC will hold its next monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 18th at 6:00 pm here at the school.  All parents/guardians are welcome.

 

On Friday January 13, members from Junior Achievement program will be coming to our school to work with students in grades 3, 5, 6 and 7.  Students in Grade 3 will focus on Innovation & Technology, Grade 5 classes will focus on Our Business World and Grade 6/7 classes will be discussing Economics for Success.

 

Home & School would like to thank everyone for their efforts in their pie fund-raiser.  At our school/spirit assembly on Thursday, December 22nd, the winners for the top three fundraisers and class participation were announced!

Next Home and School meeting Thursday, January 12th at 6:00 pm. All members are welcome, and class parent reps are asked to ensure they please attend.                            

The always popular water polo will be beginning in the New Year for the Grade 5’s.  The coaches will be Mme. Belone, Mrs. Gallant and Mrs. Murphy.  Regular practice will take place at school.  All matches will be held on Tuesdays at the Riverview Aquatic Center (RHS).  All matches are from 4:00pm to 4:50pm.  Students should not arrive before 3:45pm.  RES will have two teams. 

                                                                                                                                       

The Ryan Gunn Write for Fun Author/Illustrator project is a picture book enrichment project sponsored by ASD-E to celebrate the creativity of our elementary/middle school students at the Grade 3-5 levels.  Teachers and other adults facilitate the project as mentors and provide constructive feedback and guidance.  However, these books are the student's own work.  This is taught by Mrs. Kieley and Mrs. Taylor.

 

The ever popular chess clubs continue to run at noon hour. Mme LeBlanc and Mme Belone are the chess coaches.

 

Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball teams have started and games have begun.  Thanks to Mrs. Reinders, Mrs. Snowdon, Mr. Wood and Mme Verzilli for coaching.  Schedules will be posted on the RES website.

 

Concert Band, Beginner Band, and Choirs will continue in the New Year under the direction of Mrs. Stewart.  New members will be welcome to join at that time.
