Family Literacy Day will be celebrated at Bessborough School on Friday, January 26th.  We will be hosting our Literacy Lunch from 11:40am-12:20pm.  Parents or grandparents are invited to join their children, with a picnic lunch in our gymnasium and share a book. Our Leadership students will be on hand to read with any students whose parents or guardians could not attend. As well, Jason Tremere, will be onsite to sign copies of his book "BeccaToldMeToo," which tells the story of Riverview's Rebecca Schofield and her mission to spread kindness as she faced a diagnosis of brain cancer.  All proceeds from the book are directed to the Schofield Family to assist them during this challenging time for their family.

On Monday, January 29th, Leadership students will be volunteering at the Ronald McDonald Room, located in the Moncton Hospital. Students fundraise for food, plan a menu, prepare a grocery list and work as a team to prepare a meal so families can stay close to their loved ones while they're receiving treatment at the hospital.

Friday, February 2nd will be popcorn and PJ day at Bessborough School. All funds raised will support local and global non-profit organizations.

The Bessborough Reconnect Dinner, Dance and Auction is scheduled for February 24th at Bessborough School.  The event features a Roast Sirloin, Salmon or Vegetarian Moussaka meal catered by Tide & Boar, a live and silent auction and a dance.  Tickets are available for $25 per person via School Cash Online or from Mrs. Lewis in the office.  This event is our major fundraiser for our Reconnect Technology Upgrade Program that coincides with our 60th Anniversary in November 2019.  To date, funds raised have allowed us to purchase 66 iPads, 12 Sphero coding robots, a variety of hands-on learning kits, Nearpod Virtual Reality Learning Software, and build a Makerspace in our Legacy Center featuring a 3D Printer.  Our goal is to provide our students and staff with access to the best tools, technology and learning opportunities to develop the 21st Century skills they need to be future leaders and realize their potential.  The support of our community is integral to the success of this event and we greatly appreciate all of the businesses and individuals who donate goods and services to the auction portion of this event.  If you are a business owner, are willing to approach your employer, or have goods or services you would like to donate, please contact Nick Mattatall at 856-3564 or Nicholas.mattatall@nbed.nb.ca.  All donations are greatly appreciated and allow us the ability to fund innovative learning projects for our staff and students.  Letters of inkind donation and or tax receipts will be issued by request for any donations of goods or services greater than $20.  Tax receipts are only issued for financial donations greater than $20.

As an added bonus, if you purchase your event ticket before February 2nd, your name will be entered in our Early Bird VIP Table Draw.  The winner receives 4 guaranteed parking spots, priority dinner service, a bouquet of flowers and other great surprises.

The Reconnect Dinner, Dance and Auction is a 19+ event and a cash bar is available on site.
