Holiday Bazaar 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

          Our Holiday Bazaar is fast approaching!  On December 17th from 9-12 (snowdate is Dec. 18th), students will have the opportunity to select and purchase holiday gifts for their loved ones.  This sure makes for some memorable gifts!!! 

Each class will go to the Holiday Bazaar (in the gym) with their teacher.  While there, students will get to choose one special gift for each person s/he lives with.  Each item at the Bazaar costs $1.00.  On the day your child visits the Bazaar, it would be a great help if you send your child to school with his/her money in a Ziploc bag (or an envelope), along with a list of names (or pre-made gift tags with names) of the family members your child is buying for.  This especially helps out our volunteers when it comes to labelling gifts for the little ones!  Remember that your child is buying one gift per person in their household.

We are in need of donations for our Bazaar.  Each year, we have a variety of tables to shop at - Mom, Dad, Toys, Baby, Christmas, Books and others.  If you have some gently used items that you would like to donate (especially Dad items), that would be very much appreciated!  We are also looking for donations of gift bags, tape, gift tags/labels and wrapping paper.  You can bring the items to the main office. 

Lastly, to make this event a success, we rely on the help of volunteers.  We are in need of volunteers to help set-up for the event on Sunday, December 16th at 3:00 pm.  We also need volunteers on the day of the Bazaar starting at 8:30 until approximately 1:00 (cleanup).  At the Bazaar, volunteers are needed to work the gift tables, wrap gifts and to float around helping the children find that perfect gift.  Come for the whole morning, or for an hour.  This event is a ton of fun to help out at.  The excitement in the gym that morning is contagious!  If you are able to help out in any way, please contact:

McLeod School for the upcoming year.

MONDAY FEBRUARY 26TH         TWIN DAY

  • Find a friend and dress alike for the day.  Show us your unique personalities!     

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 27TH          FUNKY HAIR DAY

  • Wear your hair in a crazy style!

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 28TH   PINK SHIRT DAY AND HAT DAY

  • The students will be permitted to wear a hat all day.

  • Also wear a pink shirt to show your support to standing up to bullying. 

THURSDAY MARCH 1ST   PAJAMA DAY        

  • Wear your coziest pjs and slippers to school.

FRIDAY MARCH 2ND    SPORT JERSEY DAY

  • Show your support for your favorite team or favorite sport by wearing a sport jersey of your choice!
  • Monthly Student Recognition assembly at 12:45 pm.
  • In the afternoon we will be hosting a basketball game between parents/staff and Grade 5 students from 1:45 – 2:45 pm. 

All events are optional and free to participate in.  They are meant to enhance school spirit.

We’re trying out something new at AHM! 

 

For those who have been to a PaintNite, you know what a great time this is!  For those of you who haven’t but would like to express your artistic side, now’s your chance!

 

The AHM Home and School Committee is organizing a PaintNite fundraising event.  For every ticket purchased, $15.00 goes right back to our school!

 

Please note that this is an ‘adult only’ event.  Drinks (including adult beverages) and snacks will be available for purchase at the event.

BACK TO SCHOOL!

​The staff at AHM hopes that everyone is enjoying their summer to the fullest.  We look forward to seeing everyone on the first day of school, Tuesday September 6th.  Please note that parents and students in Grades 1-5 will only be able to access classrooms after 8:10 am on the first day. Kindergarten students may enter the building after 8 am proceed to their classroom. Playground supervision will begin, as usual, at 7:55 am. 

If you have misplaced your copy of the school supply list for your child please find it under the "School News" tab in Newsletters of this website.

The school office will re-open on Monday August 29th at 9 am for registrations and other questions.

 

We are looking forward to another wonderful school year!  See you on the 6th!

How Can You Help Us?

Did you know that our Breakfast Program regularly feeds more than 100 children every day? AHM spends approximately $200/week feeding our students not only breakfast but snacks and lunches.  If you would like to help us with any of these items such as cereal bars, jam, non-sugar cereal and napkins it would be very much appreciated.  We are also always in need of tissues at this time of year. Donations can be dropped off at any time at the main office.  Thank you!
