AHM Voicemail Message for Tuesday May 22nd
Arnold H. McLeod would like to wish the best of luck to two of retiring staff members.  Mrs. French’s last day will be this Friday May 25th and Mr. Tower will be finishing work at a date later in June.  We would like to wish them both the best of luck in their future endeavours and know that they will both enjoy their newfound freedom.

The cafeteria is happy to announce that cafeteria services will be available up until Thursday June 21st.  There will be limited options available as time passes.

The Home and School Committee has been busy planning our annual Family Fun Day which is quickly approaching on June 8th. One of the big fundraisers that evening is our silent auction and we are calling out to our school families this year to help. If you own your own business and would like to offer a product or service for our silent auction please contact Trina Bland at 961-2598 via call or text - no item is too small. Thank you again for supporting our ongoing fundraising efforts!

There will be a PSSC meeting on Tuesday May 8th at 6:30 pm.  All are welcome to attend.
AHM would like to say a huge thank you for all of the support for our recent Night of the Arts fundraiser. It was our most successful Night of the Arts to date with a total of over $2 300 raised. Mrs. Trueman would like to add her thanks for all of the Breakfast Club donations.  The cupboards are now full!

Tomorrow night is our 8th annual Night of the Arts!  Please remember that the doors open at 6:00 pm.  There will be concession stands and an Art sale.  Please note that during the performances the sales will shut down.  You are more than welcome to stay in the hallways but please be mindful of the performances that will be occurring in the gym. Your child has a slip in their agenda that lists their artwork.  You may find it helpful to bring that along with you tomorrow night.  The night promises to be a very special one!  We hope to see you there.

Arnold H. McLeod will be hosting its eighth annual Night of the Arts celebration on Thursday May 3rd from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm.  The theme of this year’s event is “AHM Favorites”. In lieu of admission to the Night of the Arts we are asking for a donation to the AHM Breakfast Program.  Items such as cereal bars, jam, non-sugar cereal and Cheez Whiz would be very much appreciated.  You will also have the opportunity to purchase any piece of art on display with a donation of your choice to the AHM Arts Fund.  The Home and School will also be selling baked goods before and after the show.  We hope to see you there.

AHM is in need of volunteers for the Breakfast program for Thursday and Friday mornings from 7:30 am until 8:30 am.  Please help us to offer breakfast daily to over 100 students by donating your time for the last 8 weeks of school. We are also in need of a volunteer Wednesday morning for fluoride from 9:15 – 9:45 am.

Thanks to all of the parents and guardians who attended and learned along with their children during our student-led conferences.  We love to share with you!

A huge shout out to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped to make the Book Fair possible.  We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you as well for your support of the recent Scholastic Book Fair.  The classrooms will benefit from approximately $2 600 in new resources.  That means that the students have earned a double recess.

Arnold H. McLeod will be hosting its eighth annual Night of the Arts celebration on Thursday May 3rd from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm.  The theme of this year’s event is “AHM Favorites” and it promises to showcase our students’ talents.  The night will include performances by the choirs, dance groups, K Bell Choir and the Glee Club.   There will be refreshments and treats for purchase from the Home and School at the concession stands.  In lieu of admission to the Night of the Arts we are asking for a donation to the AHM Breakfast Program.  Items such as cereal bars, jam, non-sugar and nut free cereal and Cheez Whiz would be very much appreciated.  You will also have the opportunity to purchase any piece of art on display with a donation of your choice to the AHM Arts Fund.  Please note that during the presentations in the gym the concession stands and the Art Sale will not occur out of respect for the performers and all of their hard work.

There will be a Home and School meeting on Monday April 16th at 6:30 pm in the Library.  All are welcome.

Thank you for your generous donations for our Jersey Day in support of the Humbolt Broncos.  A total of $460.00 was collected through student and staff donations.

Tomorrow Arnold H. McLeod school staff and students will be participating in a Jersey day to honor the Humbolt Broncos.  If you wish to make a monetary donation to the cause, the staff will be donating money from our casual day funds and we would gladly accept and add any donations from the students.

AHM Voicemail for Friday April 6th
The last session of the Grade 4 Art Club will be held on Tuesday April 10th.
Our Home & School Committee is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair Monday April 9th until Thursday April 12th.  Thursday evening will be the Family Night from after school until 7:30 pm.  Kids are welcome to bring money in an envelope or plastic bag to shop during their classroom time in the Library.  For every $10 spent, $7 goes directly back to our school. Teachers will be completing a "Classroom Wish List" which you may use to purchase a specific book for your child's classroom.  Come out and support AHM!! Please call Trina Bland at 961-2598 if you can volunteer some time at the Book Fair.  We are currently short 10 volunteers.
Report cards were sent home today! Please check your child’s backpack for the envelope and sign and return it to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
Parent-Teacher Interviews or Student-Led Conferences will be held after school on Thursday April 12th until 6:30 pm and again on Friday April 13th in the morning.  Therefore, there will be no school for students on Friday April 13th.

AHM Voicemail for Friday February 23rd
Yearbook order forms were sent home this week.  Please note that the deadline for ordering a yearbook will be on Monday March 12th, immediately after the March Break.

Next week is Winter Carnival Week.  An information handout was sent home last week indicating the theme for each day.  We will kick off the week with Twin Day on Monday February 26th. A copy of the handout can also be found on the AHM website.

March Break begins after school on Friday March 2nd.  Students will return to school on Monday March 12th.

We will once again be holding a Parents & Staff vs Students basketball game on Friday March 2nd from 1:45 – 2:45 pm.  If you are interested in playing in this game, please contact the school at 856-3557.

The Kindergarten Phys. Ed. classes have been working diligently in preparation for their upcoming ballet recital on Thursday March 1st.  Parents of the Kindergarten students are invited to attend.  The recital will take place at 10:30 am.

Dance Club for students in Grades 4-5 will begin on Thursday March 1st.

We have accumulated three large bins of Lost and Found clothing in the Grade 3-5 wing.  Please encourage your child to look for and collect any missing items.

Please proceed with caution when playing on the snow hills after school hours.  The snow melts and freezes easily with the daily fluctuations in weather.

AHM Voicemail for Friday February 9th
Your Home and School committee is excited for tonight's Pizza and Candy Bingo! For everyone who pre-registered your pizza will be arriving hot for 5pm with bingo starting at 6pm.  There will also be cookies and cupcakes for sale $2 each.  Should anyone like to come for 6pm to play bingo only with your family the cost is $10.

The Home and School would also like to thank everyone in advance who participated in our Staff Appreciation week by sending in your appreciation apples and donations. They have a fun week planned for everyone.

This is a reminder that this Thursday February 15th is an early dismissal day.  The K-2 students and all daycare students will be dismissed at 11:30 am and the remaining Grade 3-5 students will be dismissed at noon.

French Immersion confirmation sheets were sent home earlier this week with those students in Kindergarten, Grade 2 and 5 Burns.  Please verify your program choice and return the sheet to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

Next week students will be going outside for many of their Phys. Ed. classes. Students will be sliding and using snow scooters. If students wish to use a snow scooter they will be required to bring in a helmet. Students who do not have helmets will still be able to use the sleds we have here at school. We may also be sliding and snow scootering the following week depending on the weather. Students are encouraged to dress warmly and be prepared to be outside for the next two weeks of Phys. Ed.

The Home and School Pizza and Bingo Night scheduled for tonight has been postponed until Friday February 9th.  The Home and School Association will be in touch with those families that placed orders in order to verify your attendance on the new date.  If you were unable to attend but are interested in the new date, you can still sign up.

Glee Club will begin this week on Wednesday February 7th for those students who have signed up.

This is a special reminder voicemail message:  Students and staff will be participating in our monthly positive behavior celebration tomorrow Thursday February 1st. As such, students are allowed to wear their pjs to school and bring a personal electronic device for use during the celebration tomorrow afternoon.

The Grade 5 English class will begin its Intensive French block on Monday January 29th for the remainder of the year.  We wish them the best as they embark on this new learning adventure.

The online registration process for those students in Grades K, 2 and 5 who wish to enroll in French Immersion for the 2018-2019 school year will close on Wednesday January 31st.

The Home and School Association will be hosting a Pizza and Bingo Night on Friday February 2nd from 5 to 7 pm.  An information sheet was sent home earlier this week with all of the information.  Please note that the order forms are due back to the school by January 30th.

The green Student Profile sheets were sent home earlier this week.  Please ensure that the information on this form is accurate so that we may contact you in the event of an emergency with your child.  The sheets should be returned to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

There will be a Home and School meeting on Monday January 15th in the Library at 6:30 pm.  All are welcome to attend.

Online registration for students who will be entering Grades 1, 3 and 6 and are interested in being enrolled in French Immersion continues on the Anglophone East website until January 31st.

Please note that the first day of school for students in the New Year will be on Monday January 8th.
The cafeteria will remain closed for the first week of school.  It will reopen on Monday January 15th.
Anglophone East School District is currently recruiting for the following casual positions that will start in 2018

• Rental and Casual Custodians

The last day of school prior to the holiday break is tomorrow December 22nd and it is a half day for students with dismissal at 11 am.  If you are coming to pick up your child we would ask that you wait outside until the busses depart.  At that point you are more than welcome to come in to the school and proceed to your child’s classroom to sign them out.  Please note that all bus students will arrive home on their regular bus; this means that two children in the same family may arrive home on different busses at different times.
Our students recently had the chance to experience some parts of the sport of curling as Curl Moncton came to visit our Phys. Ed. classes.  If there are any students over the age of 6 who are interested in trying curling on ice, please send a note in your child’s agenda.  They will receive a pass for the opportunity to try curling in the New Year.

The Home and School will be hosting its annual Holiday Bazaar this Monday December 18th for students.  All items for sale are $1.00 and children are only permitted to purchase items for those people with whom they live in order to ensure that there are enough items for all of the children.  Thank you in advance to all of the volunteers who organize this event.

Our annual Fill the Bus campaign is well under way and the classroom competitions are heating up.  Who will win the special surprise from Mrs. Trueman?  The last day to send in non-perishable food items is Tuesday December 19th.

The last day of school prior to the holiday break will be Friday December 22nd  and it is a half day for students. Dismissal is at 11 am for our school.  If you are coming to pick up your child on that day we would ask that you wait outside until the busses depart.  At that point you are more than welcome to come in to the school and proceed to your child’s classroom to sign them out.  The students will return to school in the new year on Monday January 8th.

The cafeteria is now closed until after the holidays.  Students should now be bringing their lunch with them to school.  The turkey dinner will be held on Tuesday December 19th for students in K-2 and on Wednesday December 20th for students in Grade 3-5 who have placed their orders.  Please note that there will be no other meal offered that day.

Tomorrow is the big day!  Our annual Holiday concert will take place at 9:30 am and again at 12:30 pm.  Please note that in order to ensure the safety of the children and to keep our routines in place, the doors will not open until 15 minutes prior to both concerts.  As admission, we are asking for donations of non-perishable food items for our Fill the Bus Campaign.  The students have been working very hard and after viewing the dress rehearsal yesterday, we are sure you will be delighted with their performances.  We look forward to seeing you!

AHM Voicemail for Friday December 8th
Kindergarten Communication of Learning reports will be going home today Friday December 8th.

AHM will celebrate the holidays with an Ugly Holiday Sweater Day for staff and students on Thursday December 21st.

Please not the change in Holiday Concert times:  The concert will be held on Thursday December 14th at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm.  The doors will open 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the show. As admission to the concert we are asking for a donation of non-perishable food item for our local food bank as we are participating in Anglophone East’s annual Fill the Bus campaign.  We are also conducting a class competition for the Fill the Bus campaign.  The class from K-2 and 3-5 who collects the most items for the collection will receive a reward from Mrs. Trueman and Mrs. Ward.  The Fill the Bus collection date is Tuesday December 19th.

Please also note that the final day before the holiday break on Friday December 22nd will be a half day.  The dismissal time is 11 am for our school. The students will return to school in the new year on Monday January 8th.

Please continue to send in donations of new and gently used items, gift paper and bags, tape etc. for our upcoming Holiday Bazaar which will occur on Monday December 18th.  If you would like to volunteer to help with the Holiday Bazaar please contact Trina Bland.  Her contact information was on the Bazaar pamphlet sent home earlier this week.

The cafeteria will be hosting a turkey dinner on two separate dates this year:  December 19th for K-2 and December 20th for 3-5.  Dinners must be pre-ordered and no other lunch option will be available on these days.  The cost is $6.75. The last day to order the turkey dinner is Friday December 15th.
 
Please note that the cafeteria will be closing on Friday December 15th with the exception of the turkey dinner days.

There will be a Home and School meeting on Monday December 4th at 6:30 pm in the Library.  All are welcome.

The hard work of the Gymnastics Club will pay off this coming week.  The competitions are as follows:  The Grade 3 and 4 students will have their competition on Tuesday December 5th while the Grade 5 participants will have their competition on Wednesday December 6th.  Both competitions will be held at Riverview East School with the warm up at 3:15 pm and the competition beginning at 4 pm.

Parent-Teacher interviews will take place on Thursday November 30th after school and again on Friday December 1st in the morning.  Please note that there will be no school on Friday December 1st.

AHM will be participating in the 17th annual Fill the Bus campaign.  The class competition will be held again this year. The K-2 class and the Gr. 3-5 class collecting the most items will win an extra recess.  Items will be collected at the school until Tuesday December 19th.  AHM has won the inter-school competition the last three years by collecting the most items.  Let’s see if we can do it again!

An information night regarding program selection for the September 2018 will be held at Lewisville Middle School on Monday November 27th at 6:30 pm in the school auditorium.  Information will be provided on options for students entering Grades 1, 3 and 6.  Registration for the French Immersion program for these students will be online on the district website and run until January 31st 2018.

Please take a moment and check your child’s book bag for their report card.  Please return the comment sheet and the envelope to your child’s teacher on Monday.


Pre-school assessments appointments will be held at the school on Thursday November 30th.  We look forward to meeting our future Kindergarten students.

We are in need of your help:  cafeteria orders are coming to the school incomplete.  Please place your child’s order in a bag with the child’s name, teacher exact items ordered and enough money.
