AHM Voicemail for Friday March 17th
We would like to wish the Gr. 3-5 Choir good luck when they perform this Sunday afternoon at 2 pm during the Moncton Miracles game.  We know you will do us proud!

The last week for Mad Science will be this Thursday March 23rd.

Yearbook order forms were sent home earlier this week.  They are due back to the school by Tuesday March 28th.

We are in need of two volunteers to prepare and deliver fluoride on Tuesdays. Please contact the office at 856-3475.

The Grade 1-2 Choir will begin on Monday March 20th at 8:10 am.

Our Pre-K Active Learning Groups will begin this week.  They are held in the school library on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for those who signed up.

The last week of In Motion Wii Dancing in the mornings will take place the first after March Break.

There will be a PSSC Meeting on Thursday March 16th at 6:30 pm in the Art Room. All are welcome.

AHM's Paint Nite has been rescheduled for Monday March 13th at 6:30pm - third time’s a charm! We currently have 37 tickets still available for purchase - you can find the link on the school website as well as our AHM home and school Facebook page - please help us make this an amazing event!
 
School will resume for students on Monday March 13th.  The Staff at AHM would like to wish everyone a fantastic March Break.

Next week is Winter Carnival week at AHM!  A bright pink information sheet was sent home this week with a description of each day’s themes.  A copy can also be found on the AHM website.

March Break begins after school on Friday March 3rd.  Students will return to school on Monday March 13th.

AHM will be participating in Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday February 22nd.  This is a national anti-bullying campaign.  So be sure to wear your best and brightest pink next Wednesday.

Please note that there will be no school on Friday February 24th due to Professional Learning activities for all staff.

We will once again be holding a Parents & Staff vs Students basketball game on Friday March 3rd from 1:45 – 2:45 pm.  If you are interested in playing in this game, please contact the school at 856-3557.

Grade 5 Badminton Club will begin shortly.  If your child is interested they should listen to the announcements and attend the organizing meeting.

Glee Club begins again Monday after school.

We are certainly feeling the love!  The staff would like to extend a huge thank you for all the treats and special thoughts this past week during Staff Appreciation Week.  AHM is certainly a great place to work.

The AHM Home and School Paint Nite fundraiser will take place on Thursday February 16th at 6:30 pm at the school.

Our Breakfast Program budget is running low.  Any donations of Cheez Whiz during the month of February and March would be greatly appreciated.

AHM is lucky enough once again to have a set of snow scooters on loan.  They were a big hit last year!  Should students wish to use the snow scooters, they are required to bring a helmet from home.
  
AHM would like to extend a warm welcome to Mme Rodot Morellon who will be replacing Mrs. Paquette for the remainder of the year.

There will be a Home and School meeting on Monday February 6th at 6:30 pm in the Library.  All are welcome.

The Home and School will once again be acknowledging the AHM Staff with a Staff Appreciation week from February 13th – 17th.  An information sheet was sent home earlier this week with all of the necessary information.  If you would like to participate, please return the provided envelope by February 9th.

The Welcome to Kindergarten event for our pre-K students will take place on Thursday February 9th from 4-5pm.

The AHM Paint Nite fundraiser has been rescheduled for Thursday February 16th at 6:30 pm. If you are interested in participating there are still tickets left.  Please visit the AHM website and follow the links to register.

Please be advised that if a school is to go into a Hold and Secure or Lockdown situation, the decision will be made by the Office of the Superintendent in consultation with the RCMP.  They will advise us what actions to take and then we in turn will send a voicemail home to inform parents.

AHM Voicemail for Friday January 20th
Please be advised that the Grade 1-2 Choir will resume after March Break on Mondays in preparation for the Night of the Arts performance in May.

Blue Student Profile Sheets were sent home earlier this week.  This sheet provides the school with vital contact information in case of emergencies.  Please review this sheet carefully and update any necessary information.

There are still a few spots left for our Home and School Paint Nite fundraiser to be held on January 26th at 6:30 pm at AHM.  Please visit the AHM website and follow the links to register.  The Home and School Association will receive $15 from each ticket sold.

We are asking parents to take great care on the playground when collecting their children after school.  As with rest of Moncton, we have an unusual amount of ice.  All of our exits and walkways are clear but if you choose to cross the playground on a path other than an official paved walkway you will encounter ice.

AHM Voicemail for Friday January 13th
In Motion mornings with the Wii will begin next week and run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:10 am until 8:30 am.  The students can wait on the playground until the 8:10 am bell when they may enter the school to get their indoor shoes and proceed to the gym.

Our Home and School Association will be hosting a Paint Nite fundraiser on Thursday January 26th at 6:30 pm.  The cost is $45 with $15 going directly to the school.  Please note that this is an adult only event.  To register, please visit the AHM website where you can find a link to purchase tickets.

The cafeteria will resume services this Monday January 16th.

AHM Voicemail for Friday December 16th
Our annual Fill the Bus Campaign continues until Tuesday December 20th.  We are excited because we think we may have a chance to win the district competition again this year. This means a lot of food for families in need.

The last day of school prior to the holiday break will be Friday December 23rd and it is a half day for students with dismissal at 11 am.  If you are coming to pick up your child on that day we would ask that you wait outside until the busses depart.  At that point you are more than welcome to come in to the school and proceed to your child’s classroom to sign them out.  The students will return to school in the new year on Tuesday January 10th.

The turkey dinner will be held on Tuesday December 20th for those students who have placed their orders.  Please note that there will be no other meal offered that day.  The cafeteria will be closed beginning on Wednesday December 21st.  Breakfast Club remains open for the week.

Online program choice registration for the 2017-2018 school year for those students who are currently in Kindergarten, Grades 2 and 5 will end on December 20th.  Please look on the AHM website if you need more information.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of you who supported us during our recent holiday concert and bazaar.  We are so proud of all of the students and their efforts and we thank you for your support.

The Home and School will be hosting its annual Holiday Bazaar this Monday December 12th for students.  All items for sale are $1.00 and children are only permitted to purchase items for those people with whom they live in order to ensure that there are enough items for all of the children.

Our annual Fill the Bus campaign is well under way and the classroom competitions are heating up.  Who will win the special surprise from Mrs. Trueman?  The last day to send in non-perishable food items is Tuesday December 20th.

The last day of school prior to the holiday break will be Friday December 23rd and it is a half day for students. Dismissal is at 11 am for our school. The students will return to school in the new year on Tuesday January 10th.

AHM Voicemail for Friday December 2nd
There will be a Home and School meeting on Monday December 5th at 6:30 pm.  All are welcome.

The AHM Home and School Association will once again be hosting its annual Holiday Bazaar on Monday December 12th.  You may donate new or gently used items at the school.  Items such as Canadian Tire money, gift bags, tape, tags, bows and tissue paper would also be greatly appreciated.  Please note that on the day of the Bazaar your child will only be able to purchase items for those people with whom they live in order for there to be enough items for all of the children.

The annual Arnold H. McLeod Holiday Concert will be held on Thursday December 15th at 9:15 am and again at 12:15 pm.  The storm date will be Friday December 16th.  Tickets for a chance to win front row seating for up to 4 people for the concerts were sent home earlier this week.  It is $2/ticket or 3 for $5.00.  If you would like more tickets, please let your child’s teacher know.

As admission to the concert we are asking for a donation of non-perishable food item for our local food bank as we are participating in Anglophone East’s annual Fill the Bus campaign.  We are also conducting a class competition for the Fill the Bus campaign.  The class from K-2 and 3-5 who collects the most items for the collection will receive a reward from Mrs. Trueman and Mrs. Ward.  The Fill the Bus collection date is Tuesday December 20th.

Our cafeteria will be hosting a Holiday turkey dinner on Tuesday December 20th.  Order forms were sent home earlier this week.  Please return them by Friday December 16th.  Orders can also be placed online.

The information night regarding program selection for the September 2017 that were schedule to be held at Lewisville Middle School on Wednesday November 30th has been rescheduled for Wednesday December 7th in the school auditorium.  Information will be provided on options for students entering Grades 1, 3 and 6.  Parents are invited to attend the session of their choosing.  For additional presentation dates please visit the AHM school website at ahm.nbed.nb.ca.  Registration will continue online until Tuesday December 20th.

Parent Teacher Interviews are occurring this evening until 6:30 pm and again tomorrow Friday November 25th in the morning.  We hope that you can make it to the school during this valuable time.

Please note that due to the Parent Teacher interviews there will be no school tomorrow.

AHM will be participating in the 17th annual Fill the Bus campaign.  The class competition will be held again this year with the K-2 class and the Gr. 3-5 class collecting the most items winning an extra recess.  Items will be collected at the school until Tuesday December 20th.  AHM has won the inter-school competition the last two years by collecting the most items.  Let’s make it a three-peat!

Parents of children in Kindergarten, Grade 2 and Grade 5 are reminded of the online registration process for their choice of program for their child for the 2017-2018 school year.

Parent-Teacher interviews will take place on Thursday November 24th after school and in the evening and Friday November 25th in the morning.  Please note that there will be no school on Friday November 25th.

The Book Fair was once again a great success.  Thank you volunteers, students, parents and staff.  Your support has meant approximately $1 600 in new books and resources for the Library and classrooms.  Students get excited about reading and learning when these are made available.  Lists of the valuable volunteers and contest winners will be posted to the AHM website soon.  Many thanks to all!

The Scholastic Book Fair will be coming to AHM this coming week from Monday November 14th until Thursday November 17th.  The theme of this year’s Book Fair is Pirate Bookaneer and it will run each day from 9 am until 2:30 pm.  Family Night will be Wednesday November 16th from 3:00 until 6:30 pm.
  
There will be a meeting of the AHM PSSC on Thursday November 17th at 6:30 pm.
 
The AHM Home and School will be holding a fall fundraiser.  Orders are due back to the school on Thursday November 17th.  As always we thank you in advance for supporting our Home and School.

AHM will be hosting its 1st annual Spin a Thon Fundraiser in January.  This has been postponed from November due to other current fundraising efforts.

Our annual Remembrance Day Assembly will be held on Thursday November 10th at 10:30 am.  Students who are part of Beavers, Cubs, Brownies and the like are asked to wear their uniforms to the event.  Parents are also welcome to attend.

AHM will be participating this month in an exciting new adventure with our apple mascot Arnie.  Arnie will be travelling across Canada with the help of our students and our class spin bikes.  We will be hosting a Spin-a-Thon later in the month to raise funds and to see how far we can get Arnie in his Canadian adventure.  Information will be sent home next week.

Please note that there will be no Art Club this week for Grade 5.

Please be advised that AHM does not allow students to wear costumes to school for Halloween.  We also follow the Nutrition policy with regards to treats.  If you would like to send something to your child’s class, please ensure that it is a healthy treat.

AHM Voicemail for Friday October 7th
Coding Camp will begin on Tuesday for those students who registered.  It will take place in the Library after school.  Please wait outside the building to collect your child.

Registration for next year’s Kindergarten class will run from October 11th until October 14th for those children who will be turning five by December 31st 2017. Please drop by the school between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm in order to complete the necessary paperwork.

Grade 5 Art Club will begin on Wednesday for those students who signed last week.

We will be having our practice lockdown on Wednesday October 12th.

We are still looking for a second volunteer for the Breakfast Club on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 7:30 am until 8:30 am.


September 30
AHM Voicemail for Friday September 30th
Gymnastics for Grades 3-5 will begin next week.  Consent forms were sent home this past week.

A meeting was held today for all of those students who were interested in attending the Grade 5 Art Club.  Permission slips and the fee, $5.00, are due to Mrs. Ward ASAP.  Space is limited so it is a first come first serve basis.

AHM will be participating in our annual Emergency Evacuation Walk practice on Wednesday October 5th.  We will be walking to the Lewisville Baptist Church.  Last year it took us 26 minutes to get the entire school population to our safety location.

Please note that there will be no school on Thursday October 6th and Friday October 7th due to Professional Learning for staff.  There will also be no school on Monday October 10th due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

We are looking for a second volunteer for the Breakfast Club for Monday and Tuesday mornings.  The hours are 7:30 – 8:30 am.  If you love the smell of toast and butter – this is the job for you!

Picture envelopes were due to the school today, Friday September 22nd.  If you still have one, your last chance to have it returned to Harvey’s Studio will be to have it returned to the school on Monday.

The Breakfast Program will begin on Monday September 26th.

During the afternoon of Friday September 30th AHM will be participating in our annual Terry Fox Walk.  As a special fundraiser for this activity, we are selling tickets on a chance to win a commemorative Terry Fox t-shirt.  Tickets are $1.00 each and the draw will take place during our assembly prior to the walk.  Should your child be interested in purchasing a ticket, please send the loonie in a Ziploc bag labeled Terry Fox draw to your child’s teacher. Don't forget to include your child's name. Tickets will be sold every day this coming week.

We had a wonderful turnout for our Meet the Staff evening last night.  Thank you to all of you who took the time out of your busy schedules to attend.  If you were unable to attend but would like to look at the information presented by your child’s teacher that evening, please visit our school’s website: ahm.nbed.nb.ca.  All of the Power Point presentations that were delivered that evening are located under the documents section.  Also uploaded is a presentation on the new K-8 report card that will be used this school year.

Practices for the Gr. 3-5 Choir have begun this week. Should your child be interested they should see Mrs. Berry or Mrs. Rayne.  Information was sent home today about Gr. 3-5 Cross Country as well. Should you child be interested in this activity they should speak with Mme Levesque, Mme Landry, Mrs. Lewis or Mrs. Trites.

With the wonderful weather we have been experiencing, our Phys Ed classes are often held outside.  If you are at the school to pick up your child for the 1:45 pm dismissal, please don’t interrupt the Phys Ed classes that are occurring.  We would ask that you collect your child from his/her homeroom teacher via the regular dismissal routine.

Parents are asked to not park anywhere on school grounds.  We had several incidents today that were cause for concern.  Parents are asked to park on the streets that surround the school.

Picture envelopes were sent home today.  Please return them to your child’s teacher by Friday September 23rd.  Retakes will be on Monday October 24th.

Welcome back!  We are very pleased with our first week of school.  The students are quickly settling in and the learning has begun.

AHM will be hosting its annual Meet the Staff Night on Thursday September 15th at 6:30 pm. The evening will begin with presentations in the gymnasium.

Green Student Information Profile Sheets were sent home earlier this week.  Please return it to your child’s teacher by Thursday September 15th.

We are currently organizing the school’s Breakfast Program.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact the school at 856-3475.  The time commitment would be from 7:30 until 8:30 am. The Breakfast program will begin on Monday September 26th.

If there are any parents interested in helping with the Safe Arrival program, please contact the office at 856-3475.  We are looking for 5 volunteers – one for each morning of the week.  The time commitment would involve approximately 30 minutes of your time starting at 8:45 am.

The cafeteria will begin to serve students on Monday September 12th.  Copies of the menus were sent home earlier this week.  Please send your order on a piece of paper with the money in a Ziploc bag.  Please refer to the information posted on our school website under the documents tab about a new online ordering system offered and maintained by Chartwells.

Also posted on our school website under the documents tab is the list of extra-curricular activities, clubs and sports that will be offered for the school year.  Please remind your child to listen to the announcements for start-up meetings and remind them of their commitment once they join an activity.  Permission slips will be sent home with children once an activity begins.

We would like to remind parents and students of the importance of bike locks if students are bringing their bikes to school.

The fall picture day will take place on Friday September 16th.

This is the first voicemail message for the 2016- 2017 school year.

We hope that everyone had a wonderful summer enjoying the beautiful weather.  The following is important information for all AHM parents:

Tomorrow is the big day!  The staff of AHM is very excited for the first day of school.  This is just a reminder that playground supervision does not begin until 7:55 am.  Since the first day of school is a very special one, we look forward to welcoming you and your child into the school tomorrow at 8:10 am in order for you to meet your child’s teacher.  Unfortunately the doors to the school will not open prior to this time as the teachers will be busy with last minute preparations.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

AHM Voicemail for Friday June 23rd
This is the final voicemail message for this school year:

The final day of school is tomorrow, Friday June 24th, and it is an early dismissal.  Busses will be picking up students at 11:15 am.  Report cards will also be sent home at that time.
  
If you intend to collect your child at school tomorrow, we would ask that you wait outside of the school at the front doors until all of the busses and daycare vans are loaded and depart.  The busses and the daycare vans will be loading between 10:55 - 11:15 am.  This is to ensure that all students arrive safely home.

Should you happen to misplace your child’s school supply list over the summer, please note that the lists for all grades are available on our school website at ahm.nbed.nb.ca.

The first day of school for next year will be Tuesday September 6th.

The final day of school is Friday June 24th and it is an early dismissal.  Busses will be picking up students at 11:15 am.  Report cards will also be sent home at that time.  If your child will be absent on that day, please send in a self-addressed stamped envelope and your child’s report card will be forwarded to you.

Please note that the cafeteria and Breakfast program will no longer be in operation after today, Friday June 17th.  Please ensure that your child has a packed lunch and breakfast for the last week of school.

Please note that the Grades 3-5 LEARN Celebration Trip to Kenmore Park that was to take place this past week on Monday was cancelled due to the weather.  The students will be going to the park this Monday June 20th.

Tonight is the big night for our annual Family Fun Night.  The event will run from 4 pm until 7 pm.  Admission is $5/person to a max of $15/family.  There will be lots of fun activities for the kids like face painting, bouncy castles, and much more.  Be sure to bring some extra cash as there will be a BBQ and a stuffie station where children can choose their own stuffed animal to fill.  We hope to see you there. If it is raining events will take place inside the school.

Congratulations to our top fundraisers in each class in our recent Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser.  They each received two tickets to the Hockey Heroes game on Sunday June 5th at 2:30 pm.  This game will feature retired NHL players. 

Mrs. Collette is asking that all Library books be returned to the school no later than Friday June 10th.
The final day for cafeteria services and the breakfast program will be on Friday June 17th.  Please ensure that your child has a packed lunch for the final week of school.

It has been announced that the last day of school on Friday June 24th will be a half day for students.  More details regarding dismissal and bussing times will be shared once it becomes available.

AHM Voicemail for Friday May 27th
Our Heart and Stroke Fundraiser is now complete.  If you have any envelopes still at home, could you kindly forward them to the school as soon as possible as we will be sending them off to Saint John early next week.

Please note that there will be no school on Tuesday May 31st for our current Kindergarten students as this is the day that our pre-K students will be visiting us.

The Home and School Committee has been busy planning our annual Family Fun Day which will be held on June 10th from 4-7pm - a notice was sent home this week with lots of details, it is guaranteed to be a fun time!  There will be bouncy castles, face painting, BBQ and much more. If you are interested in volunteering for an hour that evening please contact Trina Bland at 961-2598.
