This email is to provide you with some updated information regarding our Grade 8 Year End Trip planned for June 12-15th. The goal of this trip is for our Grade 8's to have a unique and interesting trip to allow them to solidify friendships, make memories and explore new opportunities as a grand finale to their academic careers at Bessborough. This year, we have added a program called Mount Allison University Explore, which will give our Grade 8 students a chance to visit Mount Allison University and engage in a variety of learning modules facilitated by the Physics, Athletics, Biology & Chemistry, Drama, and Fine Arts Departments. Students will also spend a night in Windsor Hall Dorm and have all their meals at Gracie's Café in the Wallace McCain Student Center or Jennings Meal Hall. Following the Mount Allison experience, students will then travel to Camp Wildwood for a 3 day, 2 night trip.
We are currently working with Mount Allison and Camp Wildwood to finalize the itinerary, however, a general sequence of events at Mount Allison is laid out below for your reference.
June 12th 9:30am: Students board bus to Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB.
11:00am: Registration and commencement of programming.
11:30 - 12:30: Lunch in Jennings Meal Hall
12:30-5pm: Learning Modules, Campus Tours and Activities in the Athletics Center
5pm to 5:45pm - Supper at Jennings Hall
5:45-7pm - Learning Module #3
7-8pm: Swim at Mt. A Aquatic Center
9-10:30pm - Quiet Time in Dorm.
June 13th 7:15am Wake Up Call
8:15-9am Door Move Out
9:15-10:30 am Learning Module #4
11am: Departure for Camp Wildwood.
The cost for the trip is $250 and includes all transportation, meals and accomodations. There is no need for spending money; however, Camp Wildwood does have a canteen available if students choose. Payments are broken into 3 scheduled payments with the first deposit due Friday, April 28th. The deposit is non-refundable except in the event of a family emergency or significant illness. If you require additional time to make your payment of your deposit, please contact the school to make alternate arrangements.
Currently we have 18 students who have committed to the the trip. To make the trip financially viable, we require a minimum of 30 participants.
A comprehensive list of what to pack, permission forms and other related documents will be forwarded to Grade 8 parents via email by Thursday, May 4th.
