WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BERNICE MACNAUGHTON HIGH SCHOOL
APRIL 27TH, 2018
The BMHS Lowladies Improv team had an amazing learning experience at the Canadian Improv Games in Ottawa. The team represented the school and region well. They finished 15th out of 18 teams. Which is a strong showing for a team competing nationally for the first time.
The improv raffle tickets are still on sale and are available at the BMHS office. The tickets are 1 for $10 or 2 for $20. There are three prize packages available. Each at a value of over $600. The complete list is available on the BMHS website or contact Jeff Lloyd via email for more details.
We are looking for parents to help decorate the stage for Awards Night, which is Tuesday, June 5. You would be needed for a couple of hours that afternoon. Contact Mrs. Natasha LeBlanc whose email is on our school website if you can volunteer.
Highlanders for Mental Health will be collecting essential items such as unscented toiletries and toothbrushes during Mental Health Week, May 7th to the 11th. There will be a homeroom competition as well as daily theme days that week. Highlanders for Mental Health is a student-led initiative supporting the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit and the Youth Wellness Unit at The Moncton Hospital. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (CAPU) is a 6-bed unit that works with youth from ages 6-16 from all of South Eastern New Brunswick; these youth often arrive without, or run out of during their stay, basic items such as toiletries. During their stay, these young patients receive important help and services for their struggles with their mental health, mental illness and addictions. Our goal is to collect essential items and raise funds for the units during Mental Health Week, May 7th to the 11th. …and we need your help. For more information please visit to the BMHS website.
Bernice MacNaughton is accepting donations of new and gently used footwear of all sizes, seasons and types (boots, cleats, sneakers, flats, and high heels), even single or odd shoes or boots until May 9th. These items are being collected in support of an innovative non-profit organization called Soles4Souls which creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of footwear in over 127 countries in need. Your donations will go to those who need them most all around the world. Please drop donations off in the blue Soles4Souls box located in the front entrance of the school.
The results from our English Language Proficiency Assessment have been received from the province. All students in Grade 9 English received their individual results from their English teacher this week. Students from Grade 11 and 12 who had to complete this assessment also received their individual report. If you have any questions regarding the results of this assessment please speak to your child’s English teacher.
