Good afternoon...Today is Tuesday, March 14th and this is your school connects message. 

 

Evergreen Park's Home and School will be hosting a movie night on Thursday, March 16th at 6:00 p.m.  The movie playing will be Rogue One A Star Wars Story.  The cost is $4.00 per person or $15.00 per family.  Pizza will be served at 5:00 p.m. at a charge of $2.50 for one slice of pizza and a drink.  As well, 12" pizzas will also be available for $10.00 each.  Please bring something comfortable to sit on.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. 

 

Friday will be Hat Day at EPS.  Those students who choose to wear a hat may give $1.00 to your homeroom teacher.  As well Friday is Saint Patrick's Day and all students may wear green to school if they wish.

 

Monday, March 20th will be a Grade 8 Parent Information Night at the school starting at 6:00 p.m.

 

We will be holding an informal volunteer information session on Wednesday, March 22nd at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

 

You are not obligated to sign up for anything at this time.  Just come and meet some of our current volunteers, hear from them, ask them questions and get a brief description of the duties that are required.

 

In order to maintain a five day Breakfast Program and provide a healthy start for our students, we are in need of a parent volunteer for Thursday mornings (7:15-8:00 a.m.)If you are able to volunteer some of your time, please call the school at 856-3476.

This is a friendly reminder for those interested in attending the second Mental Health Symposium to be held at Evergreen Park School on Wednesday, March 1st starting at 6:30 PM. The topics to be covered by our two guest speakers will be, Sleep and its Connection to Resiliency, as well as Mindfulness.

 

This Thursday will be Crazy Hair Day at Evergreen Park. Students wishing to attend with their wacky hair dos are asked to give $1.00 to their home room teacher.

 

We wish all of our students a very happy March Break next week, March 6-10th, during which time the school will be closed.

Good evening. There will be a second Mental Health Symposium for our family of schools(BMHS, Bessborough, Hillcrest,and EPS). This presentation will take place at EPS on Wednesday, March 1st starting at 6:30PM. Our two guest speakers will be speaking on the following:

 

 Sleep and its Connection to Resiliency:     Resiliency, strong mental health and it's connection to sleep. Children, especially teens are at an important stage of their growth and development, and because of this, they need more sleep than adults.  Come learn the science behind  the importance of a good night's sleep and strategies you can use to help your child sleep more soundly.

 

Mindfulness:      If you are curious to learn more about 'mindfulness' -- this session is for you!  We will explore how mindfulness teaches us to notice when we are experiencing emotions and feelings.  To stop and watch how we feel in our mind and in our body, and, how to react differently than we may have i9n the past. We will discuss how mindfulness can help people of all ages and the science of how it affects our learning.  We will even practice experiential moments of mindfulness!

 

This is also a friendly reminder that Friday March 3rd is Crazy Hair Day at EPS. Students will pay $1.00 to participate in this event.

 

As well  the March Break begins next week. As a result, the school will be closed from March 6th to 10th.

Good Afternoon...Today is Monday, February 20th and this is your school connects message.  On Tuesday, February 21st and February 28th bus 69 will be 25-30 minutes late during the afternoon run.  If alternate arrangements are being made please inform the homeroom teacher.  Children will wait in the cafeteria otherwise.

 

For safety, please do not permit your child(ren) to climb the snowbanks near the school when picking them up afterschool.

 

The staff appreciation luncheon will be on Thursday, February 23rd.  If you wish to contribute a food item for the staff to enjoy please drop it off at the main office or at the Kiss N Ride. Thank you

 

This is a reminder that there will be no school for students on Friday, February 24th as teachers will be participating in professional learning activities.

Good Afternoon...Today is Wednesday, February 15th and this is your School Connects message.  This is a friendly reminder to parents.  Please exercise vigilance when driving your children to and from school.  Please slow down when driving on Shannon and Evergreen.  Several students are walking along the side of the streets due to the accumulation of snow. Please help us keep our students safe.  Thank you

 

Due to our closures this week, we will have to reschedule our Mental Health Session to ensure that the opportunity will be available to all those who wish to attend. The new date will be Wednesday, March 1st at Evergreen Park School at 6:30 pm.  Please stay tuned for more details.

 

For staff appreciation our EPS Home and School are planning a Parent Potluck for our staff on Thursday, February 16th.  They will be collecting food items and desserts at the Kiss 'N' Ride tomorrow.  Staff will have the opportunity to enjoy a special lunch provided by our wonderful parents of EPS.  To help us organize the potluck you can e-mail your Home and School at evergreenhomeand school@yahoo.ca and let them know what you can provide for the staff lunch and if you are able to volunteer on that day.  They will also collect monetary donations to go towards the meal.  You can send in your donation to your child's homeroom teacher.  If school is cancelled this event will be rescheduled.

Good morning. This is your School Connects message for Tuesday February 7th. Evergreen Park Home and School is hosting their third annual Valentine's Social this Thursday, February 9th, from 6:00pm - 7:30 pm. Cost is $3 per person or $6 per family. Activities will include a Valentine cake walk, various games, a craft station, face-painting and door prizes. There will also be an Ice Cream Sundae Bar at an additional cost of $1 per sundae. Donations for the cake walk are needed please. They can be dropped off at the kiss and ride on Thursday morning.

Good afternoon....Today is Monday, January 16th and this is your school connects message.  This is a reminder talk-mail. 

 

Lesley Smythe from the Atlantic Wellness Center in Riverview, will be speaking at BMHS auditorium on Tuesday, January 17th from 6:30-7:30 pm. The topic is "Techniques to help your child manage stress and anxiety.

 

Also a reminder that EPS will be having a Goji's FUNdraiser on Wednesday, January 18th, from 7-10 p.m. at its 1435 Mountain Road location.  Twenty percent of sales will go to our school!

 

We would also like to put out another request for parent volunteers to help with our safe arrival program.  We only have a volunteer for 2 or 3 days per week.  This does not allow us to implement the program in the most efficient way.  It is very important to have volunteers to help to keep our students safe.  If you are able to help out with this, please contact Mrs. Tingley at 856-3476.

Good afternoon....today is Friday, January 13th and this is your School Connects message.  Welcome back to all student, parents and staff!  The administration and staff of EPS would like to wish you all the best in 2017.  A special welcome is extended to our new students and families. 

 

Thank you to all of our students that helped make the holidays special for several of our less fortunate families by raising funds through our Hat and Pajama Days. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

 

Please ensure that children are dressed warmly.  Children spend between 15-30 minutes a day playing outdoors.  Students go outside for both recesses unless the temperature is extremely low.  If you require outdoor winter clothing, please contact Mrs. Panagiotakis at 856-3476.

Students in grade 8 that were supposed to attend the French Christmas concert at the Capital Theater today will be going on Monday, December 19th.

Good Afternoon...Today is Wednesday, December 14th and this is your school connects message.  On Friday, December 23rd bus students will be leaving school at 11:00 am and walking students will be dismissed at 11:35 am.

 

On Tuesday, December 20th students who want to wear their favorite hat must pay $1.00. 

Money collected will go towards purchasing Christmas gifts for our families in need.

 

On Thursday, December 22nd students will be rewarded for reaching their fundraising goal of $ 15,000.00 by being allowed to wear their PJs to school for our school wide PJ party.

Good afternoon.  Today is Friday, December 2nd and this is your School Connects message.

 

There has been a revision in the Holiday Dinner schedule.  All Grade 6 French Immersion students will have their holiday dinner on Wednesday, December 14th.  This includes both the early and late Grade 6 Immersion students. The Grade 6 English students will still be on Thursday, December 15th.

 

On Wednesday, December 7th students are invited to wear their pajamas to school for $1.00.  All proceeds will go to our Good Will Fund to help support our own families in need during the holiday season.

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016---WE DAY

Good afternoon to Alphastars who applied to go to We Day whether your name was chosen for a ticket or not.  This is a message for your parents also.

As you are aware, Anglophone East School District has cancelled all school trips to We Day due to the impending storm, however we have been asked to pass on the following information from Free The Children. 

The Director of We Schools at Free The Children has informed us that anyone able to get to Halifax will be allowed entry into the event as long as they are accompanied by an adult. All you have to do is go to the box office, say that you are from Evergreen Park School and you will be given a ticket. Please note that entry is not permitted after 9:45 am as filming will commence at that time. The event finishes around 2:30 pm. There are no in and out privileges.  Anyone can attend. Please note that this is a decision made by you and the school is no longer responsible for those who attend the event. Thank you.

The Great Pajama Rally will be accepting donations of new pajamas until Friday, December 2nd.  Please place them in the box in our front lobby anytime this week.

 

We are still looking for volunteers for our Safe Arrival program every morning here at Evergreen Park School.  Volunteers are needed to listen to the messages that are left on the Safe Arrival line and then compare that list with our list of unknown absences.  This program helps to ensure that all students arrive safely to school each day.  If you are interested in helping out in this area, please call the school @ 856-3476.

The Great Pajama Rally is taking place at Evergreen Park School.  If you’d like to help, please drop off a new pair of pajamas in the box located in the lobby before the end of November.

There have been some cases of head lice reported.  Please continue to check your children’s heads and treat accordingly.

There will be no school for children tomorrow, November 25th due to Parent Teacher Interviews.

Good afternoon.  Today is November 14th and this is a School Connects message for parents and guardians of Grade 8 students.

 

The grade 8 Night of the Stars parent committee would like to extend a thank you to all parents and students who volunteered with the grade 8 bottle drive.  It was a huge success!

 

Thank you to all the parents who have donated gift cards towards our next fundraiser.  The gift card tree fund raiser will take place during parent teacher meetings and Christmas dinners.

 

There will be a Goji’s fundraiser this Wednesday, November 16th from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.  Proceeds will help fund the Night of the Stars.  We hope to see all grade 8 students and friends this Wednesday evening.

 

Also, tonight, November 14th, there will be a meeting at 6:30 pm, held in the Evergreen Park School cafeteria.  All grade 8 parents are welcome to join.

Good afternoon.  Today is Wednesday, November 9th and this is a School Connects message.

Evergreen Park Home and School invites you to a movie night, “Finding Dorie”, tomorrow, November 10th at 6:00 pm.  The cost will be $4.00 per person or $15.00 per family.  Pizza will be served at 5:00 pm @ $2.50 for a slice and drink.  Bring something comfortable to sit on.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Please note that there will be no silent auction as noted on the movie night invitation.

This is a time of year when lice seems to be more prevalent.  Please be diligent and check your child’s hair regularly to help control any outbreaks.  Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

We will be holding a vaccination for all grade 7 students on November 17th.  Vaccinations will be against Diphtheria, Pertussis and Tetanus for all grade 7’s and the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) (1st dose) for grade 7 girls.  On the day of the clinic, make sure your child has breakfast and wears a short sleeved shirt.

If your child is absent the day of the vaccination clinic, you can contact the Public Heath office at 856-2401 to make an appointment for another date.

Our Remembrance Day ceremony will be held tomorrow, November 10th at 10:00 am.

There will no school on Friday, November 11th for Remembrance Day.

Good afternoon.  Today is Friday, November 4th and this is a School Connects message.

 

As a school, we take our students’ safety very seriously.  As such, we want to inform you that we will be practicing our lockdown procedures on Monday, November 7th at 9:00 am.  The RCMP will be at school to observe our drill and will provide us with feedback so that we can improve our practice.

 

A lockdown occurs when there is an extreme situation such as a school intruder, or an immediate threat to the safety of staff and students, that would make it dangerous for students and staff to leave or circulate throughout the building. 

 

Thank you for your support as we endeavor to keep our students and staff safe at EPS.

 

Students and staff celebrated a successful Walk-a-thon school fundraiser on October 31st.  Special thanks goes out to the Walk-a-thon Committee for organizing the event, to the RCMP for their presence as students crossed streets along the walk and to Apple a Day for providing a healthy snack for students following the activity. 

 

On Thursday, November 10th, our school will be having our Remembrance Day ceremony in the gymnasium, at 10:00 am.  Any children who are in youth groups such as Sparks, Brownies, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or Cadets are also invited to be part of our Colour Parade.  These children are asked to wear their uniforms to school that day.

 

This upcoming Saturday, Headstart at 111 Mountain Road invites ALL families to get winter gear (coats, snowsuits, boots, mittens, hats, scarves, etc.) for their children (newborn to high school).  Doors will be open from 9 am to 12 noon.  It is open to everyone, no matter where families reside (in or outside of Moncton).  No registration needed.  Parents are to bring their child’s Medicare card and arrive early.

 

This is a friendly reminder that the parking lot is not a designated drop off zone.  If you wish to use the parking lot you MUST park your vehicle and walk with your child to the designated playground.  Keeping everyone safe is our first priority.

On Thursday, November 10th at 10:00 am, our school will have its Remembrance Day ceremony in the gym.

 

Parents or family members who are or were in the Armed Forces, or the Protective Forces, such as the Fire Department or Police Force, are invited to be a part of our ceremony’s Colour Parade.  Please meet in our school library by 9:50 am prior to the ceremony.

All parents and guardians of grade 8 students are encouraged to send in their donation of gift cards for the gift card tree fundraiser.  The gift card tree will be displayed at Parent Teacher night and again during our Christmas dinner.  All proceeds will fund the Night of the Stars.  The deadline will be extended to Friday, November 4th, please address your donation to Mr. Nason.  We appreciate your support.

Our annual Walkathon will take place on Monday, October 31st at 9:00 am.  This year, the students have earned the privilege of wearing their Halloween costumes on the walk if they choose.  Please note that no masks or weapons are permitted and students are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes.  If your child is unable to participate in the walk, please send a note to your child’s teacher.  In case of inclement weather, the walkathon will take place on Wednesday, November 2nd at 9:00 am.

Good afternoon.  Today is Thursday, October 13th and this is your School Connects message.

 

Evergreen Park School’s annual Fun Fair was a success and greatly enjoyed by students, families and staff.  Sincere thanks go out to the many parent volunteers, staff and EPS Alphastars that made the event possible.  IPads and projectors will be purchased with the funds collected.  Stay tuned for the grand total!

 

The Grade 8 bottle drive will be held this Saturday, October 15th from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.  Please have your bottles ready for pick up or bring them to the school parking lot during that time.

 

The after school Coding Club for students in grades 1 – 5 will begin on October 20th until December 8th.  Please visit www.codingcamp.ca/registration for details.

 

Our Walkathon will be on Monday, October 31st, 2016 at 9:00 am. The next collection date for this fund raiser will be Wednesday, October 26th

Good afternoon.  Today is Wednesday, October 5th and this is your School Connects message.

 

We are pleased to announce that Evergreen Park School will be hosting a 9 week after school coding program for students in grades 1 – 5, starting on Thursday, October 13th. Please refer to www.codingcanada.ca for more information, or checkout our community bulletin board in the main entrance and information pamphlets on our community table.

 

There will be no school for students on Thursday or Friday, October 6th and 7th due to teacher professional development.  Also there will be no school on Monday, October 10th for Thanksgiving Day.

 

We will be having our annual school walkathon on Monday, October 31st.  Pledge sheets are being sent home today to allow students to start collecting over the Thanksgiving weekend.  This is the school’s major fundraiser for the year.  Please help make this a successful event and support your child in the collection of pledges.  Our first collection date will be next Wednesday, October 12th.  You may also donate on line using School Cash Online.

 

Evergreen Park School 2017 Grad Class is doing a bottle drive on Saturday, October 15th.  Volunteers will be canvassing the neighborhood and collecting recyclable bottles and cans from 9 am to 1 pm.  This fundraiser will support grade 8 class activities.  Thank you for your support.
