Good Afternoon...Today is Wednesday, February 14th and this is your school connects message.  Just a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, February 15th is a half day. All students in grades K-2 will be dismissed at 11:30 am (bus and walking students) and all grades 3-8 will be dismissed at 12:00pm (bus and walking students).

 

Student profile sheets went home today.  Please review these sheets, make any necessary changes, sign and return to your child's homeroom teacher.  They will make sure that these sheets are returned to the office so that our database can be updated.

 

This is a reminder that Monday, February 19 is Family Day, a new provincial holiday and there will be no school on that day.

Good afternoon...today is Friday, February 9th and this is your school connects message.

The home and school would like to invite all K-6 students to their annual Valentines Social on Tuesday, February 13th from 5:30-7:00 pm.  There will be an admission cost of $3.00 per child or $6.00 per family.  They will be having a pizzeria with an additional cost of $2.50 for for a drink and a slice of pizza and a sundae bar for $1.00

 

The week of February 17th is Staff appreciation week and the home and school will be providing a potluck on Thursday, February 22nd for all staff.  A notice will be sent home on Monday with more information concerning volunteering to help or provide food for the staff potluck.  Your EPS Home and School would like to thank you in advance for your support!

 

This last announcement is for all Kindergarten parents.  Forms were sent home regarding program choices for your child for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.  Please be advised that next year will be the last year for our grade 3 French Immersion entry as this was grandfathered out when the Grade 1 entry level was introduced.  So if you select English for your child for Grade 1 thinking you could choose Grade 3 entry we would like to inform you that this will not be possible.  The next entry level would be grade 6 late Immersion.  If you have chosen the English program and would now like to change your mind it is not too late to do so.  Just let the kindergarten teacher or office know of your decision and the necessary changes will be made.

Good Evening...Today is Friday, January 12th and this is your School Connects Message. 

We are currently seeking new casual drivers in all regions of the District. A provincial training course will be February 5th to the 9th, that's just 3 weeks away, any help or suggestions are welcomed.  Please contact PatSteeves@gnb.ca or Shelley.Manderville-Murphy@gnb.ca

 

Registration is still open for the Level Up Kids after school computer classes.  Grades 1-2 will be introduced to computer programming as they code simple animations and games.  Grade 3 and up will learn how to make 3D games with Kodu.  They will be introduced to HTML and CSS the building blocks of websites, and they will begin working with Python.

We would also like to send out a reminder that next Thursday, January 18th will be a half day for students.  Bus students will be dismissed at 11:30am and walkers will be dismissed at 12:00pm.

There will be a dance for our grade 8 students on Thursday, December 14th from 6:30-8:30 pm.

This is a reminder that family and friends of students in grades 3 + 4 are invited to join us for an evening of songs on Tuesday, December 19th at 6:30 pm. Please bring a non-perishable food item with you and place it in our school bus located outside the main office.

 

Our Wellness Committee would like to invite all students and staff to wear their "ugly" Christmas sweaters or holiday themed clothes on Friday, December 22nd.

Just a reminder that next week is our Holiday Dinner week.  Please refer to the form that was sent home last week to see when your child will be going. 

The cafeteria will only be serving Holiday Dinners next week so please be sure that your child brings a lunch on the days they are not scheduled to have turkey dinner.

The Holiday Concert will be on Tuesday, December 19th at 6:30 pm.  This concert will be put on by our Grade 3 and 4 students.

 

Today the students have received a coupon for the December 16th Wildcats game for 1 free adult ticket and 1 free youth ticket.  This is a complimentary coupon in conjunction with our Reading is Wild program.  Coupons need to be redeemed at the Wildcats' ticket office before the game.

This is to inform you that if your child has Mrs. Aikman-Smith for either English Language Arts or Art, she will not be available for parent-teacher interviews due to illness. For parents and guardians of all Grades K, 2 and 5 English students:  Information sessions, regarding program selection for September 2018, will be held on Monday, December 4th in our cafeteria at 6:30 pm.  There will be a snow date of Tuesday, December 5th if school is cancelled due to the weather.  The information will be provided on options for the Grades 1, 3 and 6 students:  English Prime Program, Early French Immersion Program (Gr. 1 and Gr. 3 entries) and the Late Gr. 6 French Immersion Program. 

Parents who wish to enroll their children in the English Prime Program, Grade 1 Entry, Grade 3 Entry or Grade 6 Entry French Immersion Programs will be requested to complete the electronic registration form located on the ASD-East web site.

We desperately need volunteers for our Safe Arrival Program for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to help keep our children safe.  If you are available to help us any of these days please contact the school at 856-3476.

 

We are also looking for volunteers for our Fluoride Program on Wednesday mornings.  This only takes about 45 minutes of your time.  If you are able to help please contact the school at 856-3476.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

We look forward to seeing parents and guardians on Thursday, November 30th, from 5:30pm-7:30pm and on Friday, December 1st from 8:30am-11:30am. Please note that there will be no school for students on Friday, December 1st, due to parent-teacher interviews and professional learning for teachers.

 

Holiday Concert

On December 19th, family and friends of students in grades 3-4 are invited to an evening of songs.  Grades K-2 will participate in our annual spring concert in late May, 2018.

The Great Pajama Rally

The Evergreen Park School Alphastars need your help!  They are the leadership group of 150 students here at EPS and their mission is to help other kids in our school and our community.  Right now they are conducting their 10th annual Pajama Rally and are asking for donations of new pajamas.  Their campaign runs until the end of November and once it is finished, they will be giving pajamas to kids in need at Moncton Headstart and Crossroads for Women...as well as our own school!

Good Evening...Today is Monday, November 6th and this is your school connects message.  EPS students and staff would like to express their thanks to the community for their support during our fourth annual Walkathon fundraiser. It was a success due to the fact that everyone worked together towards a common goal.  If there is any final money to come in please send it in with your child this week. 

 

On Thursday, November 9th at 10:00 am, our school will have its Remembrance Day ceremony in the gym.  Parents or family members who are or were in the Armed Forces, or the Protective Forces, such as the Fire Department or Police Force, are invited to be a part of our ceremony's Colour Parade.  Please meet in our school library by 10:00 am prior to the ceremony.

The Evergreen Park walk-a-thon will take place at 9:00 am tomorrow, Wednesday Nov 1st.  Our goal is $4000. Please send any money collected in to the school as soon as possible. Our students have been doing a great job collecting pledges. Please remind your children to dress accordingly, wearing both layers and comfortable footwear.

 

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish our students a fun but very safe Halloween Night.

October 30th, 2017

This is your school connects message for 30 October 2017.

Tomorrow the 31st is Halloween Day and the students of Evergreen Park are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes if they wish to school. Please note, masks or any other face coverings, as well as any type of weapons are NOT allowed. Make-up will be permitted however.

The Evergreen Park walk-a-thon will take place at 9:00 am on Wednesday Nov 1st.  Our goal is $4000. Please send any money collected in to the school as soon as possible. Good Afternoon...Today is Friday, October 20th and this is your school connects message.  Our Papa John's fundraiser is up and running again.  When you order $25 or more online, 20% of the sales will come back to the school. or either of the FAMILY A or FMILY B menu options instore, Papa John's will donate $5.00 to Evergreen Park School.  The first date for the fundraiser will be October 25th.

 

School Photos:  Students in grades K, 1, 6, 7& 8 will have their picture taken on Monday, October 23rd and students in grades 2, 3 ,4 & 5 will have their picture taken on Tuesday, October 24th.

 

Moncton Headstart Inc. is currently collecting coats, snowsuits, hats, mitts, scarves, and boots, in good condition, to share with children of all ages (newborn to high-school) for low income families in Metro Moncton.  These items can be dropped off by October 27th at any Greater Moncton Jean Coutu Pharmacies, and at Moncton Headstart, 1111 Mountain Road. Last year more than 900 children and youth received warm winter clothing for COATS FOR KIDS.

 

Monster Ball:  The Monster Ball will be on Thursday, October 26th from 5:30-7:00 pm.  Students in grades K-6 can come join us for some freaky fun. Students under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  The cost is $5.00 per child or $10.00 per family. Adults are free of charge.  Wear your costume.  There will be games, treats, a dance party and much more!! A pizzeria & beverages will be available for purchase.  A slice of pizza and a pop will be $2.50. 

This event will be hosted by the EPS Home and  School.

This is your school connects message for 05 October 2017.

Our Papa John’s fundraiser is up and running again. When you order $25 or more online, 20 % of the sale will come back to the school, or either of the FAMLYA or FAMLYB menu options instore, Papa Johns will donate $5 to Evergreen Park School. The first date for the fundraiser will be October 25th.

Next week, October 10-13 is kindergarten registration week for any child who will be turning 5 years old by December 31st, 2018.  Please ensure you bring  your child’s medicare, proof of address and immunization to the school when you come to register.

School pictures will be taken on October 23rd and 24th.

Notices will be going home tomorrow with your children regarding the EPS walk a thon taking place on Wednesday ,Nov 1st at 9 am. Students are asked to raise pledges and collect money from October 6th to 31st. Pledges and donations can also be paid on the website through School Cash Online. Prizes and school rewards are detailed on the blue notices that will be sent home tomorrow.

We will be hosting a meet the teacher tonight September 19th at 6PM.

Thursday 21st will be a half day for our Students. The dismissal time for grades K-2 will be 11:30am. Walkers can be picked up as usual.  Students in grades 3-8 will be dismissed at 12:00 noon.  Note…no students will be eating lunch at school. As a result, please ensure your child has a snack at first recess.

A more detailed mailout will be sent home with the students tomorrow.

The  EPS Boys soccer team has now been chosen and the team has been notified. Soccer fees of $10 must be paid online and the Permission forms  signed and returned prior to the first practice on Monday 18th September which will be held from 2:45 to 3:45pm. Game days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We will be hosting a meet the teacher night on September 19th at 6PM.

The kindergarten students will be visiting an orchard during the month of October. More details will follow.

Good Afternoon … Today is Friday, September 15th and this is your school connects message.

Students and staff of EPS are asked to wear Orange shirts on September 29th in recognition of the wrongs done by the residential school system to Aboriginal children and communities.

Student data collection forms will be going home with your children today.  Please update, sign and return to the school next week.  Since we have over 700 students at EPS it will take some time to update the information in our system so the sooner the sheets are returned the quicker the information will be updated.

 

rade 8 parents:  The first fundraiser for the Night of the Stars is the Pizzeria during the Fun Fair.  In order to make this a success we are asking Grade 8 parents to donate water or juice boxes to be sold.  You can drop off your donation at the office next week or at the Kiss’N’Ride Thursday, September 21st, the morning of the Fun Fair.

This is your Evergreen Park School Connects message for September 8th, 2017.

Thursday, September 21st from 5:30-7:30pm, EPS will be holding  our 2017 Fun Fair. There will be a silent auction, bake sale, a cake walk and various games, all to raise funds to help support our breakfast program and the purchase of more ipads for our classrooms. Volunteers as well as donations of auction items and baked goods are still needed for this event. Your help will be very much appreciated. Volunteer forms have been sent home with your children.

Cross Country practices for both boys and girls in grades 3-8 will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:45-3:30 beginning September 11th and going until October 16th.

 

The EPS breakfast program will begin on Monday September 11th. It will run from 7:30 AM until 7:55AM. The menu will be the same as last year.

We will be hosting a meet the teacher night on September 19th at 6PM.

This is a reminder to please pay your child’s school fees online if at all possible. This can be done by going on the Anglophone East website and clicking on School Cash online.  Fees can also be paid by cash or check if preferred.

Please be advised, a letter has recently been sent to the Parents and Guardians of Evergreen Park’s 2017-2018 Kindergarten class, which indicates in error that the student fees for kindergarten will be $15.00.  This amount should have read $16.00 per kindergarten student. Please accept our apology for this error.

These fees will be due the first week of school if at all possible.  We ask that you pay them online by going on the Anglophone East website to register,  by clicking on the “Get Started Today” option.

Students who walk are scheduled to be released at 11:30.

This afternoon, June 12th, 2017, we  were requested by the RCMP to put Evergreen Park School on immediate lockdown , as a precaution due to a situation in the immediate area of the school. The lockdown lasted about 40 minutes until we were again advised by the RCMP that the lockdown could be lifted.
We apologize to parents and daycares who phoned or visited during this time. Please understand your children's protection was our utmost priority.

This is a message for the parents of grade 8 students at Evergreen Park School who will be attending Bernice McNaughton School in the fall.  There will be a home and school planning and information meeting tonight 30 May 2017 at 7:00pm for the BMHS Friends of the Highlanders. The meeting is being held in the library and is open to new families of students who will be attending BMHS for the 2017-2018 schoolyear. If you have any questions, please call 856-3469.

This is also a reminder to EPS parents and students, of the annual turnaround awards which are taking place on Wednesday evening this week, at 6:00 pm at Riverview Middle School. Please note, the date correction, as this was previously announced as Tuesday in error.

There will be a coding Camp this summer! Level UP Kids is offering week-long day camps in Moncton for students aged 7-15. They are offering fun courses in Robotics, Mobile game design, Youtube, Minecraft Modding and much more. The brand new curriculum is tailored for children using game play and game design to teach coding fundamentals. Evergreen Park School will be participating in the New Brunswick Elementary Student Wellness Survey. This survey gathers information from students in grades 4 & 5, as well as Parents/Guardians of students in grades K-5.  It surveys attitudes and behaviors regarding healthy eating, mental fitness, bullying, physical activity and tobacco use. By taking the time to complete this survey, students and parents can contribute to their school’s improvement plans and student wellness activities. Please note participation will be voluntary and anonymous. Parent’s who do not wish their children to participate must call the New Brunswick Health Council at 1-877-225-2521 and must provide the school name, student name, home room teacher’s name and grade.   Please ensure any survey forms received are returned to the school in the sealed envelope by 26 May 2017 at the latest.

There is an immunization clinic planned for our girls in grade 7 on 25th May 2017. The 2nd dose of the Gardasil vaccine will be given. On the day of the clinic, make sure your child :

             Has eaten breakfast and wears a short sleeved shirt.

If your child is absent the day of the clinic, you can contact your local Public Health office at 856-2401 to book an appointment.

There will be no school for students on Friday 19th, May,2017.

Student Data collection sheets are being sent home today for students in grade 8 only. Please take notice of the upper right hand corner and be sure to indicate which High School you wish your child to attend. Please update and sign the remainder of the profile sheet and return it to the homeroom teacher as soon as possible so that we may transfer the most updated data to their highschool.

Both students and staff are getting excited for the upcoming Evergreen Park School Night of the Stars, which celebrates our grade 8 students and their accomplishments and hard work. The ceremony will be held on 15 June 2017. We ask  the grade 8 students to arrive at the school at 6:15 PM. The actual ceremony will be held from 6:30 until 8 o’clock, and a dance will be held from 8 until 11:00PM In closing, we would like to thank all Parents and Guardians as well as students and staff for participating in the Buick Drive Fundraiser this past weekend. Come one come all to the EPS Home and school sponsored movie night  being held tonight at EPS beginning with Pizza at 5 PM. The movie titled MOANA the New Disney Princess is being featured at a cost of $4.00 per person or $15 per family begins at 6:00. Pizza including a drink is $2.50 a slice. 12” pizzas will also be available for $10 each. Please bring something comfortable to sit on. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Each 15 minute test drive taken, will earn our school $20, with no purchase commitment necessary. Up to two adults can register per family.   All participants must have a driver’s license. Other activities will include face-painting, nail polishing, a bake sale and canteen. Funds raised will go to: W.E., the Atlantic Wellness Community Center and EPS activities. Registration forms have been sent home with your children. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

The annual Provincial Concours d’art oratoire will be held Saturday, May 6th at the Jeanne de Valois Pavillion on the U de M campus. This wonderful French event is open to the public. Evergreen Park will be well represented by Reese Mann.

The PSSC will be meeting at 6:30 this evening in the breakfast room here at Evergreen Park School.

 

We are noticing that several students are  bringing spinner fidget toys to school.  This is a friendly reminder that we strongly discourage students from bringing toys to school. If your child has a medical condition and requires a spinner fidget toy, please speak to your child's homeroom teacher.

 

 

There will be no school for students this Friday May 5th due to Subject Council Day.

 

 The week of May 1st-5th is Mental health week. The 7th Annual Mental Health Symposium will be held May 3, 2017 at Harrison Trimble High School.  This event is open to the public from 6:00 PM- 9:00PM.  Various Community Kiosks will be open,( please note the time correction as this was previously mentioned in the school newsletter as 5:30PM).  Presentations  will follow, including:

Families who have children registered for kindergarten this fall are invited to their local public library for a special event. The event will involve the Welcome to Kindergarten bags previously given out to the children, so please bring them along. The times and dates for this event will vary by library.
