This is Evergreen Park School contacting you on behalf of our Principal, Mrs Panagiotakis.

Today at our school we discovered an anonyomous threat written on one of our washroom walls. Typically threats of violence are often found written on bathroom walls, stalls, posted on the internet, left in a note for a teacher, or called in to the office, etc.

We have a specific process to follow in the case of anonymous threats.

Firstly, we assess the threat. We have done this in collaboration with the RCMP and District Officials, and have determined this threat is of low risk. The RCMP assisted us in  ensuring the safety of staff and students by investigating the situation.

Secondly, after we assess the risk, we attempt to identify the threatmaker. Please encourage your child to come speak to Mrs Panagiotakis if they mention that they may have any information at all that will help with this matter.

I want to ensure you that we take all issues which may affect school safety seriously and are committed to ensuring a positive and safe working environment for our students and staff.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school directly.

Thank You.

Thank you to all of our students that helped make the holidays special for several of our less fortunate families by raising funds through our Hat and Pajama Days. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Please ensure that children are dressed warmly.  Children spend between 15-30 minutes a day playing outdoors.  Students go outside for both recesses unless the temperature is extremely low.  If you require outdoor winter clothing, please contact Mrs. Panagiotakis at 856-3476.

Lesley Smythe, from the Atlantic Wellness Center in Riverview, will be speaking at Bernice MacNaughton High School auditorium on Tuesday, January 17th from 6:30-7:30 pm.  The topic is "Techniques to help your child manage stress and anxiety".  All parents are encouraged to attend this worthwhile session.  For more information please call the school.

November 29
Tuesday, November 29th, 2016---WE DAY

Good afternoon to Alphastars who applied to go to We Day whether your name was chosen for a ticket or not.  This is a message for your parents also.

As you are aware, Anglophone East School District has cancelled all school trips to We Day due to the impending storm, however we have been asked to pass on the following information from Free The Children.

The Director of We Schools at Free The Children has informed us that anyone able to get to Halifax will be allowed entry into the event as long as they are accompanied by an adult. All you have to do is go to the box office, say that you are from Evergreen Park School and you will be given a ticket. Please note that entry is not permitted after 9:45 am as filming will commence at that time. The event finishes around 2:30 pm. There are no in and out privileges.  Anyone can attend. Please note that this is a decision made by you and the school is no longer responsible for those who attend the event. Thank you.

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

Good afternoon.  Today is Tuesday, November 29th and this is a School Connects message.

Tomorrow, November 30th will be our second Papa John’s fundraiser.  Papa John’s will donate 20% of all orders of $25.00 or more to Evergreen Park School.  Please use the Promo Code EVERGREENPARK25 (all capital letters).

The Great Pajama Rally will be accepting donations of new pajamas until Friday, December 2nd.  Please place them in the box in our front lobby anytime this week.

We are still looking for volunteers for our Safe Arrival program every morning here at Evergreen Park School.  Volunteers are needed to listen to the messages that are left on the Safe Arrival line and then compare that list with our list of unknown absences.  This program helps to ensure that all students arrive safely to school each day.  If you are interested in helping out in this area, please call the school @ 856-3476.

Thank you and have a great day.
