Dear Parents/Guardians,

October is already upon us and days are cooler!  Please be sure students are dressed for the weather. They go outside every day for play (as long as it is not raining).

This month, students will be traveling to Fundy National Park for nature presentations that will enhance science learning. Specific information including the date for each class will be sent home by classroom teachers. Please complete and return permission for your child to participate. Thank you

Our breakfast program is up and running.  Thank you to the volunteers who made this happen! The breakfast room is open every day at 8:15 when supervision begins at the school. All students are welcome!

The PSSC (Parent School Support Committee) is looking for new members. The PSSC is a school community group that has an advisory relationship with the school principal. They meet approximately 5 times a year. If you would like to know more about this role or would like to be a part of this committee, please contact the school.

Safety is always a priority in schools! Please note:

For the safety and security of the students, only the front door remains open throughout the school day (except during early morning arrival 8:15-8:40 when the parking lot door is opened and supervised.)

  • A quick goodbye helps your child get right to school routines and encourages the independence children need!

  • When entering the school during the day, all visitors are to check in at the office.  We are happy to help in any way we can.

  • If at any time you need to speak with your child’s teacher, please write a note in the agenda the evening before, or call/visit the main office and the teacher will be notified. Teachers will contact you when they are not required to be with students.  They are often involved with meetings or other required duties before or after school but will make it a priority to contact you as soon as possible.

  • A reminder that supervision does not start until 8:15, therefore students should not be arriving before this time.

Allergy Alert – Please remember, HES is a nut free school as we have some students with severe allergies to nuts.  Thank you for helping ensure our students are safe by not sending food with nut products.
