Senior Band – This is a reminder to all Senior Band members that we will be meeting for rehearsal today at lunch time.

The boys’ basketball team suffered a tough loss last night in the District Championship losing the title to Riverview.  Mr. Irvine would like to thank the team for all their hard work and dedication this season.

 

Please remember Pokemon Club and Hockey Card club are today in the Library during the lunch hour.

 

STEM Fair Information:

Congratulations to the boys’ basketball team who advanced to the District Championship by defeating Bessborough by a score of 61-33.

Senior Band – Good morning Senior Band members.  This is a reminder that we will be meeting at lunch time for rehearsal.

 

Drama Club – Drama Club is cancelled today, Thursday, February 20th.  We will meet next Thursday, February 27th.  Please see Mrs. Steele or Ms. Jardine if you need a copy of the script.

 

In intramural basketball today 8E will play 8C @ 12:15 and there will be bump for the Grade 6’s at 12:35.

There will be no snowshoeing today due to the wind chill.

 

The boys’ basketball team will play their final home game of the season today after school as they take on Bessborough in the District semi-finals.  All drives must be arranged for 5:00.

The girls’ basketball team finished their season with a very close loss to Riverview East School.  The coaches would like to thank the girls for a great season.  The girls are asked to clean their uniforms and return them to Mr. Irvine by this Friday.

STEM Science Fair

Students have begun working on projects.  They will need a tri-fold and possibly other materials from home.  The Science Fair is planned for Monday, February 24th.  District Stem East Expo is March 19th at Maplehurst.

 

Junior Band

Junior Band has started and takes place every Wednesday at lunchtime.

 

 

MADD Canada

MADD Canada will be presenting to some grade 8 classes the morning of February 19th, including the 7/8 combined class. Presentations will continue for the remaining grade 8 classes on March 17th. The topic is “Weed out the Risk” which supports the health curriculum.

 

Social Studies

Our Social Studies teacher, Madame LeBlanc, will be working with our students to exchange postcards with other Canadian schools.  We will be accepting any donations of local postcards in which our community aspects are recognizable, as well as donations of stamps.  Should you wish to donate any postcards and/or stamps, they can be dropped at the office at LMS between 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

 

Forms

Student Profile Sheets and Statements for amounts owing have been sent home with the students.  Please ensure you check your child’s book bag for same.

 

Please submit any outstanding fees.  Also, if you have not yet submitted the required school forms on School Cash OnLine, please ensure you do so as soon as possible.

 

Immunizations

The Public Health Nurse was in to review immunization records and letters have been sent home with the applicable students regarding any issues and instructions on how to proceed.

 

Tech

Letters from Tech have been sent home.  Please check your child’s book bag for same. 

 

Teacher Appreciation

The parent fun raising committee is still waiting on monetary donations of any amount for Teacher Appreciation Week which begins Monday, February 10. Donations of $5, $10 or any amount will help create a special week of treats for your children's teachers. We are hoping for all donations to be brought to the school office by this Friday, February 7th so the committee has time to prepare a special and well-deserved week.  Thank you very much for your donations. - Fun Raising Committee.
