Earth Day

Good morning Lewisville and Happy Earth Day!

Did you know:

1.       Many animals die every month from trash by being ingested and becoming a choking hazard.

2.       The ocean has over 10 million plastic bottles.  If pollution continues, our drinking water will get polluted and the world’s water source could be ruined.

3.       In an estimated 200 years, 40% of the earth’s trees will be cut down.  With the population of trees and bees, the earth might end.  By planting flowers and trees, the bees will do their job by pollinating the flowers and trees.  We can help as well.  We can do our part by gardening, picking up our garbage and sorting your trash into the appropriate trash bags.

Reading

Did you know…studies show that reading for 6 minutes a day reduces stress by 68%.

Next week, Lewisville Middle School students and staff will begin a challenge to “read their way across Canada.”  The longest distance from East to West is 5.514 km.  This takes you from Cape Spear, Newfoundland and Labrador, to the Yukon border and Alaska border.  Collectively we will read 5514 pages to cross Canada.

There is a map placed in the cafeteria next to the Guidance Office to track progress.  All teachers will be provided with ballots for their classrooms and boxes to collect the ballots will be placed in both the upstairs and downstairs’ hallway.  Each time you read, individually or as a class, track how many pages you read and put a ballot in the box to help our Panthers travel the nation!  Teachers, keep an eye on your emails for an update.

LMS Heritage Fair 2022

Students and staff, welcome to the Lewisville Middle School Heritage Fair and this celebration of our stories.

Through time, people have come together to share stories and ideas for thousands of years.  And today, we celebrate our heritage with a fair, an idea that encourages young people to investigate culture and heritage.

The curiosity, passion and hard work students bring to their projects are always inspiring.

Walking through each class showcase during the fair will be a journey through family histories, faiths, cultural traditions, tragedies and triumphs, innovations and discoveries of all kinds.

Please be respectful and look with your eyes only.  Do not touch anything.  Move through the projects in an orderly fashion and return to your class when you completed the walkthrough.
