As part of their way to give back to the community, Leadership has decided to help out a local teenager who is battling cancer. Becca Schofield decided a few months ago to launch a social media campaign to encourage people to do random acts of kindness. In an unimaginable circumstance, she wanted to use this to inspire people to be better, to give back and to spread kindness. Here at LMS we will have our very own <<BeccaToldMeToatLMS>>.
There will be posters displayed around the school for students and staff to sign should they feel like they have done something nice for anyone here at LMS. Teachers will also hand out #BeccaToldMeToatLMS tickets if they catch students being kind in any way. As well, we will have 2 special days where students will be able to listen to music in class (with individual teacher's permission only) by paying a quarter only, with proceeds going towards our #BeccaToldMeToatLMS fundraiser. Monday and next Wednesday students will be able to listen to music in classes by: asking permission first, paying each teacher the 25 cents, having headphones and making sure music is low and appropriate. Lastly, next Friday will be "dress as your favorite hero day", as we here at LMS recognize that Becca Schofield is indeed a hero to all, inspiring all of us to do something kind for someone else.
All money raised from our Valentine treats sales, special music days for students, jeans days for staff and any other monetary donations given to our LMS <<#BeccaToldMeTo>> campaign will be given to Becca and her family next month to help her fulfill her bucket list. Donations will be accepted on-line as well through School Cash On Line beginning on Monday, February 27th, and ending with the wrap up of our campaign on Friday, March 3rd.
