Staggered Entry Days for September

July 26, 2021

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers,

As we prepare for learning in the fall, we would like to make you aware of some of our plans for the first week of school.  We will be having staggered entry for all of our students again this September.  Some students will come  on Tuesday, September 7th, some on Wednesday, September 8th, and some on Thursday, September 9th.  All students will attend on September 10th.  This will allow us to have small groups of children in class to meet their teacher and some classmates over the first three days of school.  They will be able to go over the routines and expectations for the year.  Homeroom teachers will be reaching out to caregivers to let you know which day your child will be coming to school during the first few days by phone or e mail.

When children arrive at school, they will enter the school directly and go to their homeroom classes.  Students who have homerooms on the east side of the building near the field will go in door 5.  Children whose classes are on the west side of the building near the apartment will enter through door 2.  We will continue to have two different drop off zones, one on each side of the building.  Caregivers will not be able to enter the building during morning drop off.

At this time, we are expecting that drop off times will be returning to pre covid hours for drop off and pick up.  We are expecting that drop off will begin at 7:45.  School begins at 8:25.

We will continue to work with Public Health to ensure safety for students by following all safety protocols, depending on the phase we are in.  Near the beginning of the school year, we will be updating families on what those processes and practices will be.  We are hoping for a smooth and heathy return to school in September.

Respectfully,

Heather DeWare

Principal

I would like to let you know that we will be making a change to our COVID 19 Operational plan that will impact the drop off and entry into the school for students in Grade 3 English.  We are going to move their entry point from Door 4 to Door 5.  This should help with traffic flow in the morning.  We will monitor the effect on the entry at Door 5 to ensure that we continue to meet safety standards.

First Day of School

We are excited for our students to come to school on Tuesday. School begins at 8:25.  Supervision begins at 8:05.   Please remember that parking is limited at our school.  If you are walking your children to the playground or to drop off school supplies, please park in the subdivision across the street from the school.  If the weather is fine, children will stay outside on the playground until the bell rings to come inside.  If it is rainy, children will come to the cafeteria until teachers are on duty. After the teachers are on duty children in grades 3 - 5 can go to their homerooms.  We will have staff available to help you determine which homeroom your child is in.  Kindergarten children will begin with a staggered entry, coming either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.  All Kindergarten children will attend together on Friday.  Have a great evening.
