Many projects were completed including the resurfacing of our baseball diamond, patching of the walking trail, topping off our jumping pit with sand, building a new sand box for early years students, cleaning and prepping our flower beds and that was just outside! Inside there were multiple painting projects and lots of cutting and laminating happening. All in support of our school.  THANK YOU SO MUCH
Special thanks to Modern Construction Crushed Stone, Price Contractors, Green Diamond Equipment and Quality Concrete for their support.
This is the second volunteer group at the school this year, with NBCC coming in the fall and again in the spring as part of the Robertson Community Days.
We recycled over 11000 bags during the plastic grab bag challenge, you can see our video on twitter using the hashtags #PlasticBagGrab #maghill #Walmart
Congratulations to Mrs. Cripps 3-4 class for collecting the most bags. Thank you to Miss Steeves and Miss Dickson for organizing the event.

On Monday our students in Grade 6 will be writing their provincial assessments.
On Friday, we are winding up our bag challenge. Please send in any plastic grocery bags to the school for recycling! The contest ends June 2nd. For more information you can go to http://www.plasticbaggrab.com/
We are also participating in Disability Awareness Week. This will be celebrated on Friday with a school wide walk/roll around the walking path at the school.
May 30th is the parent meeting for our grade 8s who are going to Quebec.
There are no classes for our Kindergarten Students on May 31st as it is K Orientation Day. It is also the day when our Pre-K students will join us for Orientation.
June 1st our Grade 8 students are off to HTHS for the morning for their Orientation to High School,
the Sunshine Team is off to the Aquatic Centre in Dieppe and we are having a visit from Transport Minister Fraser to discuss speed concerns in front of the school; it will also be our last PSSC Meeting of the year starting at 7:00.
Exciting News! We have been chosen by Historica.Ca to talk part in the “Here’s My Canada” contest. On June 7th a crew will be at Magnetic Hill School to help students make 30 second videos to share “What Canada Means to Me” as part of Canada 150 celebrations. http://www.heresmycanada.ca/
Our Family Fun Day is this coming Saturday June 3rd and we have lots planned for this great day!
If your child is currently attending our school Out of Bounds, you need to get your forms in as soon as possible. We are starting to make our class lists for next year. It would be unfortunate if your child was not included due to a lack of the necessary paperwork to place them on a list.
For parents of students in Kindergarten and Grade 2. We will be in touch this week with some of you to confirm placement for next year to ensure your child is in the program of your choice.
Finally, an insert went home regarding Mabel’s Labels, we are a Mabel’s Labels school!

Thanks for your ongoing support,

Have a great week.

A New Week on the Hill :)

Dear Magnetic Hill Families

I hope you made the best of our great weather this weekend!

Thanks to all of you who came out to support our grade 8 day at the school. Huge thanks to the many parents of our grade 8 classes who came out to help. This could not have happened without your time and efforts. Thank you!

This week we have our Arts-Smart showcase night this Wednesday beginning at 6:00. Our Orange team has worked hard on their projects and they are looking forward to sharing with our community.

This is a short week for students, there are no classes on Friday the 19th and again on Monday the 22nd due to the NBTA day and Victoria Day.

Assessment season has begun on the Hill. Students in grades 2 and 6 will be writing provincial assessments. The grade 2s in ELA, the 6s in multiple subject areas.

We are still collecting plastic bags in our plastic bag challenge. This environmental project continues through June 2nd.

Our Family Fun day is coming up on June 3rd. If you are interested in helping out, or just plain curious about the day, please contact us at the school. 856-3428

The Kindergarten Orientation Day is May 31st. Our current “Crop” of Kindergarten students will be at home for the day, so we can spend time with our Pre-Kindergarten students and get them oriented to our school.

Yearbooks should be in soon. If you have pre-ordered we will be sure to get them to you as soon as they come in. If you did not order there will be a limited number of extra books available for purchase at the office.

With the warmer weather on the horizon we do ask that you review our dress code for all levels in our school code of conduct. Being proactive will help us to avoid conversations that are uncomfortable for both students and staff alike.

A reminder we are a “Mabel’s Labels” school if you use this product and need to reorder.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,

Thanks again for your continued support of Magnetic Hill School

Mr. Smith and Staff
