Talk Mail Nov 22, 2017
Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Wednesday, Nov 22 with a couple of announcements.
First of all a reminder that if you change your phone number or address to let the school know.  We need to be able to get ahold of you in an emergency.
Secondly, the Home and School needs your help in raising funds.  They are currently collecting items for Christmas baskets.  Remember all funds raised go to support the school's technology goal.  The goal is to be able to purchase more iPads for student use.

Lockdown Drill
Dear Parents,
We are practicing our system lockdown tomorrow morning between 9:00 and 9:30.  During that time we will not be allowing anyone in or out of the building and our phone lines are to remain open. This is only a drill.

Talk Mail Message Nov 9th
Dear Parents, This is Mrs. Geneau on Thursday, Nov. 9 with a few announcements.
There is no school tomorrow, Nov 10th due to professional learning for staff and on Monday, Nov 13th as Remembrance Day falls on the weekend. 
The Home and School fundraiser is due Wednesday, Nov 15th.
Mad Science forms are due Nov 15th as well.  Note, there is no bussing available for after school programs.
And finally, when your child is going to be absent please contact the school at 856-3441 or inform the classroom teacher.

Scheduled Power Outage
Good afternoon parents.  This is Mrs Geneau on Tuesday, Oct. 31 with an important announcement.
NB Power has informed us that Mountain View School has a planned power outage scheduled for 1pm on November 1st that is scheduled to last until 5pm.
All students will be dismissed at the early dismissal time of 1:35. If your child is picked up by someone or day care please let them know.  Thanks.

Dear parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Friday, October 27th with an announcement.
Papa John's is having a Family Pizza Day Fundraiser on Tuesday, October 31st.  On Family Pizza Day, use promo code MVS when you order online, and when the order is $25 or more, 20% of your order will be donated to Mountain View School.  Plus the next day, you will receive 25 Papa Rewards Points, which can be redeemed for a large 3-topping pizza!  Order cannot be combined with other promo codes.  Let all your friends and relatives know and Mountain View can raise more funds.

This is Mrs. Geneau on Monday, October 16 with a couple of reminders. Wednesday, October 18 is picture day and Thursday, Oct 19th is a half day with students going home at 12:00pm.

October 11, talk mail announcement
We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Sondra Kitchen has been awarded the Minister's Excellent in Education Award for 2017.  Students will notice a videographer will be present for a short period the morning of October 25, filming Mrs. Kitchen with staff and students.  We have asked a few staff members and students to speak on camera reflecting on the teaching qualities that Mrs. Kitchen displays. Media consent forms were sent home at the beginning of the school year and we will adhere to these when filming is taking place.

Talk mail Sept 20th
Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Wednesday, September 20th with a few announcements.
Tomorrow is half day- buses will be leaving the school at noon.
There have been a couple of reported cases of head lice.  Please check your child's head and if you find any lice or nits a treatment should be done.  We will be sending home some information on facts and tips for removal.
Agenda money is due on Monday and hot lunch order tomorrow.

Meet the staff night and immunization records
Dear parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Monday, September 18th with a couple of reminders.
First of all tomorrow is meet the staff night.  We will first meet in the gym at 6:30.  I am still looking for volunteers to join our PSSC (Parent School Support Committee).
Secondly, if you are a parent of a kindergarten student and have updated your child's immunization, please bring in the updated form for our records.

Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Friday, September 15 with a few announcements.  First of all it has been a great start up!  Students and staff are settling in to routines and learning is well underway. 
Meet the staff night is Tuesday, September 19 beginning at 6:30.  We hope to see all parents/guardians there.
We are in need of 4 PSSC members if you are interested or want to nominate someone please contact the school at 856-3441 or email me at 
Tomorrow, Saturday, September 16 is Becca Scholfield Day and we at Mountain View School are asking students and staff to perform random acts of kindness and report back to the school on Monday so we can add our total acts of kindness to the district total and let Becca know we care.

Field Day Postponed
Dear Parents,
Due to the impending rain that is supposed to come tomorrow, we are postponing our field day until Wednesday.  If you were going to volunteer and can still make it can you let the school know either by email at or call the school at 856-3441.  Thank you for your understanding in this issue.

May 26 reminders
Dear parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Friday, May 26th with a few reminders.
1.  The school is having it's annual talent show on Monday, May 29th beginning at 6:00pm.
2.  There is no school for the current Kindergarten children on Tuesday, May 30th as this is our Pre-K event. 
3.  Parents of students entering K in the fall are asked to be at the school at 9:00am with your child for the Pre-K event.

May 16 Reminders/Announcements
Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Tuesday, May 16th with a few reminders.  First of all, we have had several students arriving after 8:05 and it is disrupting the learning environment for all students. For those arriving late, parents are asked to please go to the front door, ring the bell, go to the office and sign your child in. 
2. We will be holding the jump rope for heart event tomorrow afternoon.
3. There is no school on Friday, May 19 and Monday, May 22.

Talk mail May 9th
Dear parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Tuesday, May 9th with a few announcements.
1.  Jump Rope for Heart envelopes are due tomorrow.
2. Alternate conveyance forms were sent home with the May newsletters, if your child will be going to day care or to another location other than home next fall the form needs to be completed and returned to school so that transportation can have the correct information at the beginning of the school year.
3. Grade 5 permissions for going to Sunny Brae School need to be signed and returned.
4. Reminder to current Kindergarten students that there is no school for them on Tuesday, May 30th as this is the Pre-K day.

April 26
Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser
Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Wednesday, April 26th with a brief message. Today the students were given a presentation for the Jump Rope For Heart fundraising campaign.  Last year our school raised $1783 dollars and our goal for this year is to raise $1800 for the Heart and Stroke Association.  Envelopes for collections were sent home and we ask that they be returned on May the 10th.  Parents may register online for donations or students may ask family and friends.  Door to door collection is not encouraged.  If you do not wish your child to participate please return the envelope.  Thank you for helping our school learn about giving back to the community.

Night of the Arts
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Tuesday, April 18th with a reminder that we are having our Night of the Arts tomorrow.  Doors open at 6:00pm for viewing the art work.  The drama club will present at 6:30 and choir will sing after the drama presentation.  The students have worked very hard this year and we hope you will all come and support them.  A donation will be collected at the door with proceeds going to the drama club.

Student Wellness Surveys
Dear Parents and guardians,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Thursday, April 6th with a couple of announcements.  First of all there is no school tomorrow for students as it is parent-teacher interviews. 
Secondly, on Monday, there will be a survey sent home with students in grades K-3 for parents to complete on student wellness.  Grades 4 and 5 students will compete the student wellness survey here at school.
These survey results help us at the school to determine what we can do to help with student wellness at our school. The survey should not take anymore than 15 minutes to complete Please take the time to complete the survey and return it by Thursday, April 13.  Should you choose not to complete the survey we ask that it be returned with your child.  Thank you for your support.

Program Choice Registration
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This message is for parents whose child is currently in grade K, 2 and 5.  If you have not yet registered your child for next year (French Immersion or English) please complete the form that was sent home yesterday.  This needs to be completed and returned no later than Friday of this week.  Thank you and have a great night.

Last week before Christmas reminders
Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Monday, December 19th with a few reminders.  First of all December 20th is the final day for parents of Kindergarten, grade 2 and grade 5 to register their child for next year's program of choice, French Immersion or English Prime.  This is done online on the district's website.
Tomorrow is our Christmas store.  Students are reminded to bring in a toonie to shop, (they may only purchase 1 item).
Wednesday is our Christmas multiage day. And Friday is a half day.  Students will be dismissed at 11:15.  Reminder that parents must meet the busses for K-2 parents.

Christmas Concert
Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Tuesday, Dec 13 with an announcement.  Since there was a storm on Monday and we didn't get to the Community center to practice for the Christmas concert we will be walking to the community center tomorrow morning for a practice.
The concert is tomorrow at 6:30 at the Irishtown Community center.  Doors will open at 6.

December 1st Announcements
Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Thursday, Dec 1st with a couple of announcements.  First of all the French as a Second Language Presentation for parents of students in grades Kindergarten, two and five has been postponed until, Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 at Lewisville Middle School.
Secondly, items for the Christmas Gift baskets are still being accepted.  Please have the items to the school by Monday, December 5th.

Program Choice
Dear Parents of students in grades 5, 2 and Kindergarten,
At Mountain View School our program of study option is English Prime.  For entry into grade 6, Sunny Brae offers both English Prime and Late French Immersion.  For students entering grades 1 and 3, there is an option to choose Early Immersion at Forest Glen School.
Please be on the lookout for information about these programs as they will be going home tomorrow with your child.

October 21st Announcements
Dear Parents,
This is Mrs. Geneau on Friday, October 21st with a few announcements.  This weekend is the last day for our Norwex Fundraiser.  If you wish to order and support the school please follow the instructions on our website.
We are going to change the date of our Halloween Multiage Activities to Friday, October 28th.  Students may wear a costume and will be involved in multiage learning activities.  No costumes on Monday, Oct 31st.
We will be doing an Emergency Evacuation practice Wed. or Thurs. next week weather permitting.  Our emergency evacuation location is the Irishtown Community Center.
