FAMILY FUN NIGHT, FRIDAY, MAY 26TH

This is Andrea Boudreau  from Northrop Frye Home and School and I want to personally invite you to our upcoming family fun night. This event is being held this Friday, May 26th from 5-7PM and is a time for families in our community to come out and celebrate a great year and have loads of fun! Come enjoy a barbecue sponsored by Sobey's Elmwood Drive for supper, snacks from the canteen, Par-T-Perfect bouncy castles includin the epic obstacle course called Adrenaline Rush for the older kids, face painting, balloon animals, Mosaiq Festival multicultural craft station, gym games by I-play, photo booth, colouring table and carnival games. There will be stage shows as well from our school choir, taekwondo, Chaos dancers and Jump Fit. I even heard there may be some appearances by some special guests! We will also be having a large silent auction during this event with over $5000 worth of great items up for grabs. One example is a complete driving course provided by A&A driving school! Auction items can be paid for with cash or cheque. This event is the Home and School's largest fundraiser each year and the money is used towards much-needed school resources and technology maintenance. Cost is $5/child to a maximum of $20/family and adults are free. Food items will also be available for purchase.

This event is held indoors so will be going RAIN or SHINE! We are very excited for this upcoming event Friday and really hope that you can make it out. All are welcome so be sure to invite a friend or neighbor as well.

Please be advised that the cafeteria will be closed starting Monday, June ​19th.  There will be NO cafeteria service the last week of school.

The Cafeteria will open in September 11, 2017.  There will be NO cafeteria service the first week of school.

Boys and Girls Softball Tryouts

Boys and girls, grades 6-8, who are interested in playing softball are to sign up outside the Phys Ed office. Tryouts will be Monday(May 9th) and Tuesday(May 10th) after school until 3:30 outside on the soccer field. If it is too wet, tryouts will be held in the gym. Please​ bring your glove, hat, and cleats(if you have some). The league will start the week of May 15th.

​~Volunteer Tea on May 4th at NFS - Music - On Thursday, May 4th there is a volunteer tea during the lunch time in the atrium and the organizers have asked for volunteers to play for the event.  This will be a casual event to help to provide a bright cheery atmosphere for the parents who have played a vital role in helping in various roles in our school throughout the year.  I would like to have several students who are willing to play one or two pieces on the keyboard, gather in the atrium between 11:40-12:20 to play for those present.

Mental Health Wee is an annual national event that takes place during the first week in May to encourage people from all walks of life to learn, talk, reflect and engage with otheres on all issues relating to mental health.  Today mental health tip: If we are under a lot of stress, be mindful of the foods you choose.  Also, keep a healthy snack close by so that you can refuel easily and avoid being hungry and angry at the same time.

~Attention grades 4 & 5 you have an excitig event coming up.  Tonight from 6-7:30 there is a sock hop at the school.  The dance will be DJ'd by HTHS students and is going to be a blast!  There will also be a canteen.  Come and have a great time.

~Students in grades 1 to 4 we have a cafeteria challenge for you!  Starting today middle school stidents are going to be checking to see what tables are the cleanest.  They will keep track and the class who has been the cleanest during the month of May will get a special class reward.

~School Choir grades 4-8 at 11:40 in the music room today.

~Don't forget to order your school yearbook.  Due date is today.  Please bring down your order form.

~Intramurals today for 3Robichaud & 3Guadarrama.  We will be playing Pin Dodgeball.

~7-8 Ball Hockey intramurals today at 12:00.  Please see the schedule.

~Grade 4 students - There is a fidget/spinner club in grad 4 Mme. Cormier's classroom at 11:40.

~Grade 5/6 Badminton team practices this week.  Boys today 2:30-3:30 in the elementary gym.

~Mud and puddles are here.  Please bring extra clothes to school in case you need to change.

~SPCA Book Sale - NFS will be having a used book sale on May 11th.  Donations can be made here at the school anytime by 3pm each day.  All proceeds will go to the SPCA.  Thank you for any donations of books you have.​

Grade 5/6 Badminton Team District Jamboree Schedule

​The start times and divisions have been announced for next week's district jamboree at Riverview East School.  They have been posted in the PE Extracurricular News section of the website.

The start times for NFS teams are listed below.  Athletes should arrive 20 minutes before start time.  Only indoor footwear is permitted in the gym.

 

Monday, May 1st  -   Girls Singles and Doubles

NFS A and NFS B both start at 3:30.

 

Tuesday, May 2nd  -  Boys Singles and Doubles

NFS B start time is 6:15 and NFS A starts at 7:15

 

Wednesday, May 3rd  -  Playoffs Girls and Boys Singles and Doubles

 3:30-5:30   Will only know if any NFS team(s) are participating after results from Monday and Tuesday are available.

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS, Wednesday, April 26th

~Grade 5/6 Badminton Team practices this week... Girls today, Boys on Thursday.  2:30-3:30 in the elementary gym.

~All of Mr. Rinzler's Phys. Ed classes are in the yellow gym today.

~Skipping club and 5/6 ball hockey intramurals postponed for today due to the Right to Play in the middle school gym all day.​

~Attention grades 4 & 5 you have an exciting event coming up.  Thursday evening from 6-7:30 there is a sock hop at the school.  The dance will be DJ'd by HTHS students and is going to be a blast!  There will also be a canteen.  Come and have a great time.

~Middle School Students please remember to clean alll your garbage after eating lunch, the elementary students eat after you and we need it to be clean.

~Middle School students are not to be unsupervised in the atrium.  Students are only to go to the atrium at the 12pm bell.  All garbage and equipment is to be picked up or using the atrium will be lost.
