Safe Drop Off Data Collection
In collaboration with our Parent School Support Committee, we are once again re-examining our safe drop off to try to try and determine what improvements might be made to increase the flow and eliminate the amount of time parents are waiting in line to drop off. This task will require multiple parent volunteers to collect a variety of data over the course of 2-3 weeks, starting on March 20th from 7:40-8:05. If you are available to assist, please let us know by using the “Contact Us” tab on our website. Indicate SAFE DROP OFF DATA COLLECTION and your preferred date(s) to volunteer.
We will be looking at a variety of data to help guide us including a bus survey that the PSSC is developing. We know that approximately 700 of our 870 students are designated as bus students. However, we also know that far more parents are choosing to drop off instead. The school’s drop off area was designed by an architect based on the school having a very small “walk to school zone.” Consultation has happened with Anglophone East School District, the City of Moncton, the Department of Early Childhood and Education, Codiac RCMP, and the Department of Supply & Services. The school has also reached out to Dr. Louis Malenfant, a leading researcher in the area of pedestrian safety.
