RHS Behavior/Attendance Exemption

Students who are serious about their studies and committed to attending school will have the opportunity to apply to exempt 1 exam in June 2018. In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

1.            Students must have 5 or fewer absences (excused or unexcused) in the class that they are requesting to exempt.

2.            Students can only exempt a course that has a final exam and all essential work and assignments must be complete in that course and passed in on time.

3.            As the policy relates to behavior, the subject teacher will have the final say in granting any exemption. Factors that will influence this decision include attendance, punctuality and deportment.

4.            As the policy relates to attendance, there are no exceptions to the 5 day rule. Students who qualify for an exemption in a class (5 or less absences), but have 10 or more absences in another class will have to apply to administration to qualify for an exemption. Exemptions in these cases will only be granted if accompanied by documented excuse. A student is automatically ineligible if they reach 15 days in any class.

5.            Some courses will require a final exam in order to access the extensions of that course. Therefore, a teacher has the discretion to require students write a final exam

6.            Students who serve an out of school suspension are disqualified from the exemption policy
