Varsity Girls Soccer Titans Come Close at Provincials

The Tantramar Titans varsity girls soccer squad played tough against the Carleton North North-Stars in their semi-final game at Provincials played at Carleton North in Florenceville-Bristol last Saturday morning.

The teams were so evenly matched that they played through 2 regulation halves, 2 10-minute overtime periods and settled the battle by penalty kicks with Carleton North coming up with a 4-3 margin to be awarded the 1-0 win to secure a spot in the gold medal match. Carleton North fell 2-1 in that game to eventual champion Southern Victoria Vikings.

The Lady Titans had a great season with a 8-6-2 record for a .500 percentile; winning a home-and-home exhibition pair with Amherst High Vikings; the Eastern Conference playoff championship and an appearance at Provincials as one of the final four teams in contention for the title for the third consecutive season.

5 veteran Titans played their final match for the squad. The team’s graduating Grade 12’s include: Selina Gaudreault; Katie Hess; Bryn Nurse; Hannah Walton and Molli Ward. The Titans wish the girls good luck in all their future endeavors.

The team extends thanks to parents, care-givers and school officials and students for their support through the 2016 season!
