Message from TRHS
Good afternoon from TRHS,

1. Today we conducted an evacuation practice and a lockdown practice that were announced to students.  It is important that we practice these procedures to all learn how to respond in case of an emergency, understanding that it can create feelings of anxiety with some students.  Please check in with your child and let us know if any follow up is needed.

2. You may have noticed that our flags are at half-mast.  This is to recognize RCMP Constable Francis Deschenes, who passed away on September 12th.

Thank you!

Another Message from TRHS
Good afternoon from TRHS,

1. Parents are reminded to confirm bussing for your child on the ASD-E website using the School and Bus Locater button.  Students needing alternate transportation on a regular basis are required to complete an alternate conveyance request form.  These can be picked up at the school office.
Those dropping students off or picking them up from school are reminded to do so in our upper parking lot.  Students driving themselves to school are to obtain an annual parking pass from the office and park in the upper parking lot.  The lower lot is for staff and buses.

2. School fees are $30 for students in grades 10-12 and $40 (which includes a one-time locker fee) for grade 9 students.  We encourage you to register on the School Cash Online program found on our school website.  School fees can be paid online or with cash at the office during the lunch hour and are due by Sept. 30th.

3. This week, your child was given 6 forms to take home to be signed and returned.  These include an updated Student Profile sheet, Policy 311, Bring Your Own Device policy, Media Permission, Bus Safety and Lockdown procedures.  We appreciate you reviewing these with your child and returning them as soon as possible.

4. There will be a home football game tomorrow at the TRHS Dave Jardine Memorial Field.  The Titans will take on the Leo Hayes Lions, who they met in the provincial finals last year.  Game time is 1:00pm and admission is $3 for students and $5 for adults.

5. Mark your calendars- School Picture Day is on Friday, Sept. 15th.

Message from TRHS
Good morning,
This message is to let you know that this morning we had another evacuation.  The firemen cleared the building and, once again, believe it is an issue with an individual smoke detector sensor.  The alarm company is working to rectify this problem.

Students have returned to classes for the day.

Mrs. Lafford

Urgent Message from TRHS
Hi folks,
The fire alarm has been going off this morning and the children are soaked from being out in the rain.  The firemen have been here and checked the building.  They believe it is the humidity that has set off the alarms, but every time it goes off we have to evacuate.  Buses have come to take the kids home and those walking have been dismissed for lunch.

All activities at the school are cancelled for today.

Mrs. Lafford

Message from TRHS for Grade 9 families
Good afternoon from TRHS:

Our grade 9s are beginning their substance abuse unit in the Personal Development & Career Planning curriculum.  Tomorrow they will take part in a presentation from our school Addictions Counsellor.

As part of this unit, the classes will also be shown "Through a Blue Lens", a documentary from the National Film Board that follows policemen on their beat documenting drug abuse in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. In this documentary, drug addicts talk openly about how they got to the streets and send a powerful message of caution to others about the dangers of drug abuse.

Due to the nature of the topic, the film will depict real life situations that students may find difficult. We encourage you to discuss this with your child and contact their teacher with any questions.

Here is the link to the documentary:  https://www.nfb.ca/film/through_a_blue_lens/
