Good Afternoon Norton Elementary Families,

We are looking forward to seeing everyone this evening at 6:30 for our Family Fitness Night.  Miss Petkau has some great activities lined up.

NESPA’s Spring Basket will be on display this evening as well.  Thank you to everyone who donated.  If you wish to send an item in, there is still time.  Tickets will be sold until May 5 with the draw being held on Saturday, May 6 at the Rummage Sale.  Volunteers are needed with the set up on Friday evening as well as Saturday.  If you would like to help in any way, please contact Amy Cassidy at 435-4985 with the times that you would be available.

Good Afternoon Norton Elementary Families

Students who missed their chicken burgers on the storm day, Feb. 16 were supposed to receive them today.  Due to a mix up, they did not come and will be delivered next Monday, March 27.

As always, each classroom has healthy snacks on hand in the event that a student does not have a lunch.  NESPA also provided vegetable trays for the classes today as part of Nutrition Month.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

December 19, 2016

Good Afternoon Norton Elementary Families,

We have a few reminders before the Christmas break.

Our Christmas Program will be held on Wednesday, December 21.  The first show is at 10:00 a.m. with a repeat performance at 12:00.  The storm date is Thursday, December 22 at the same times.  We want to remind everyone that all schools are scent free.

If you plan to take your child home with you after the last show, please send a note to your child’s teacher.

Also, please take a moment to check the lost and found if you are missing some of your child’s belongings.  The box is quite full.

January Hot Lunch orders are due on Wednesday, December 21.

On Thursday, December 22, we are planning a school wide pajama day.

Friday, December 23 with be a half-day.  Students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m.

December 2, 2016

Due to the cancellation of school on Wednesday, the soup that was ordered for that day will be delivered on Monday, December 5.

We also would like to remind parents that students need mitts, hats and snow pants as we are now into the snowy, wet weather.  Extra socks at school are always a good idea so little ones do not have wet feet should they get water or snow in their boots.

November 3, 2016

This is a reminder message about the upcoming Kickoff to Kindergarten Meeting on Wednesday, November 9.

Parents are invited to join us at 6:30 p.m. for information about the transition to school process.

Representatives from Talk With Me, Family and Child Education and Elementary Literacy Friends will be on hand to explain their programs and answer questions.

Parents who did not have all their child’s documents at registration are asked to bring them on November 9.  Schools are required to have the birth certificate, immunization record and a copy of the Medicare number on file for each student.

If you have any questions please feel free to call the school office at 839-3000.

Harvey Studios will be here September 27 for school photos.

The Terry Fox Walk will take place September 30, weather permitting.  Please watch for pledge and permission forms will be sent home this week.

The NES newsletter will be sent home on Monday with students reps.  The student rep is your youngest child attending school.  Parents who have provided an email address will receive the newsletter electronically as well.
Our Open House will be held on Thursday, Sept 15 from 6:30 to 7:30.  Teachers will be giving an overview of the curriculum as well as classroom routines and expectations.  Hall Brothers will be providing corn for everyone following the presentation.  We hope to see many families next Thursday.

Good Afternoon from Norton Elementary School,
Welcome back to all our returning students and parents as well as those new to our school.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week.
The first day of school for students in grades 1 – 5 will be Tuesday, September 6.
Kindergarten students will start school on either Tuesday, September 6, or Wednesday, September 7.  This information was included in the letters sent at the end of June.  If you did not receive your letter, please call the school at 839-3000 for your child’s staggered entry date.
Please ensure that you send a note with your child’s after school arrangements on the first day.
Students do not need to bring all their school supplies on the first day.  Just send what is comfortable for your child to carry.
Anglophone South School District is in the process of converting to a new student database program. A new Data Collection Form with your child’s personal information will be sent home the first day of school.  We ask that you correct or fill in any missing information and return the sheet the next day.
Busing should be the same as last year, so if your child is travelling on the bus, we ask that you be at the stop a few minutes before the usual pick up time.  If your child is a new bus student, you can contact the school for information on the bus number and approximate time for pick up.
The parking lot will be busier than usual the first week of school so we are asking that you exercise extra caution when entering and exiting. Please watch for little ones who may be exiting vehicles and remain stopped if you are in the yard when buses are unloading.
Thank you for your assistance and patience during this first week of school.
Thank you from the staff of Norton Elementary School
