Information Items:
-Congratulations to our float committee on another job well done!! “ Merry Madagascar from Fairvale” won “Best Youth Float” in the Kennebecasis Valley Parade.
-Next week is Kindness Matters Week at FES with a theme each day. Please see the daily themes in the Guidance section of our December newsletter.
-We are pleased to have our first Spirit Squad activity on Friday. Spirit Squads are  multi-age teams of 14-16 students of various grade levels coming together for a shared, cooperative activity.  Each squad is identified by a colour and is supervised by the same teacher year after year.  Students remain in the same Spirit Squad throughout their years at FES with graduating grade 5 students being replaced with new kindergarten students. The connections made between the students strengthen the sense of family we have at FES. We encourage students to come to school wearing their Spirit Squad colour on Spirit Squad day. Spirit Squads meet bimonthly throughout the school year.
--Open Library continues next week on Tuesday with Morning Open library for grades 1-2 students and for those in grades 3-5 who are in choir and unable to attend at lunch. There is also lunch time Open Library for students in grades 1-5.
-In the spirit of giving, we will be collecting new and gently used toys in conjunction with the Rothesay Regional Fire Department Toy Drive starting Dec. 8th. We will also be collecting nonperishable food items and toiletries for the KV Food Basket as well as pet food for our furry friends at Saint John Animal Rescue League. As in past years, we will select two classes to deliver the food to the Food Basket. Other donations will be picked up at the school.
-Continuing with our celebration of multiculturalism, throughout the month of December, children will learn about Christmas traditions around the world.
