Principal's Email to Families - April 1, 2024

Greetings HES Families,

We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Easter Weekend with family and friends! A few updates for you below as we begin the week.

Hot Lunch – A new round of pizza orders are online for purchase.  Paper copies are available in the office.  All orders are due Monday, April 8th.  It will be for 5 weeks for $10 for 1 slice and $20 for 2 slices, April 10, 17, 24, May 1, and May 8. 

Purchases may be made online through School Cash Online using the link on our website: http://hampton-elementary.nbed.nb.ca .

Order forms for purchases by cash or cheque are available in the school office.

Term 2 Report Cards and Family Teacher Conferences – Term 2 Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, April 11th.  Family Teacher Conferences are Monday, April 15th from 8:30am -11:30am and  4pm – 7pm. The link to book appointments will be sent at the end of this week.

April 8th Early Dismissal for Students – A note for families that K-8 students will be dismissed from school at 12pm, on Monday, April 8th, due to the solar eclipse. The buses will depart at 12pm.

Greetings HES Families,

A few updates for you below as we begin the week.

No Classes for Students March 25thA note for families that there are no classes scheduled for students on Monday, March 25th as it is a professional learning day for staff.

HES Home and School Halifax Seed Fundraiser – The HES Home and School is organizing a Seed Fundraiser through Halifax Seed just in time for Spring! There are a variety of seed packs to choose from to get your garden started! Funds raised will be used for repairs to our playground. Order forms are due back to school on Tuesday, March.26th 2024. Thank you for your support!

HES Staffing Update – A note for families that Ms. LeBlanc will be filling in as a Guidance teacher, working with classes to support social emotional learning and working with small groups while Mrs. Branch is out for the next few weeks. Supply teacher Ms. Edwards will be teaching Ms. LeBlanc’s Music classes.

Easter Holiday Dates – A reminder for Families that there is no school on Good Friday, March 29th, or Easter Monday, April 1st. Classes resume on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Due to the storm day, both African Drumming and Winter Carnival Event Day have moved to the week after March Break.

March Break – There are no classes scheduled for students next week, March 4th – 8th, as it is March Break. Classes will resume on Monday, March 11th.

African Drumming @ HES - The African Drumming Group was storm stayed in Sackville and will visit HES on Thursday, March 14th. We are looking forward to their performance!

HES Winter Carnival Event Day, Thursday March 14thOur annual Winter Carnival Event Day has moved to Friday, March 15th! Students will enjoy a day of Winter themed literacy, numeracy, and physical fitness activities.

HES Clothing Back Orders – A note for families that all of the clothing items that were back ordered arrived today and were sent home with students.

HES RCMP Internet Safety/Cyber Awareness Night – We had a great turnout for the Internet Safety/ Cyber Awareness Night! Thank you to all the parents/guardians who attended the presentation by our RCMP Liaison Officer, Meghan Wells. Congratulations to the Totten family who won the draw for the Family Basket!

Anglophone South School District Orange Shirt Day T-Shirt Design Challenge – Congratulations to HES Grade 5 student, Alexis Smith, for winning this year's Orange Shirt Design Challenge! Well done!

HES Home and School After School Movie – The HES Home and School presents “Elemental” as this month’s after school movie on Feb.15th . Tickets are on sale this week and payment and permission forms are due by Feb.12th.

Here are your updates for the week of Jan. 29th – Feb.2nd 2024

HES RCMP Internet Safety/Cyber Awareness Night – The HES PSSC has partnered with our RCMP Liaison Officer, Meghan Wells, to offer a session for parents and guardians on internet safety and being cyber aware Feb.1st @ 6:30pm. This session is intended for adults, and we are able to provide childcare for families so that both parents/guardians may attend. Please return your RSVP notices to your child’s homeroom teacher by Tuesday, Jan. 30th. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Book Swap – Thank you so very much to all our families for your support of our Annual Book-Swap which took place on Friday, Jan.26th! Thank you for your continued cooperation!

Skating – Skating continues this week! The rink requires that all skaters wear a CSA approved helmet and skates, along with mittens/gloves and snowpants. Thank you to all our family volunteers! We greatly appreciate your help!

Pink Shirt Day T-Shirts - HES will have Pink Shirt Day t-shirts available to order from now until February 1st.  This is a firm deadline and no late orders will be accepted.  You may place your order though School Cash Online by clicking on the following link: https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/

$8 for youth sizes and $10 for adult sizes.

Delivery will be before Pink Shirt Day on February 28th.

We had a great first week back at school! We reviewed our behaviour matrix and are all set to S.O.A.R. in 2024! This week we focus in depth on our Hawk’s Honour Code, which are our shared values here in Hawk Nation; Honest, Accepting, Well-balanced, and Kind. 

French Second Language Program Information Night Jan.17th 2024 - An information session, regarding program selection for September 2024, will be held virtually via TEAMS for the Hampton Education Centre (KV/Hampton/Sussex areas) on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, at 6:30pm

Information will be provided on all program options for Grades 1 and 6 students for the 2024-2025 school year.

HES PSSC Meeting Jan.15th – Our HES PSSC meets Monday, Jan.15th @ 6:30pm in the Library. 

HES Student Clubs Round 2 – Here at HES we are pleased to offer several clubs that support the development of our students’ global competencies. The Round 2 Club offerings are listed below:

HES Hot Lunch Updates– This round of pizza was to begin Jan. 10 but with the storm day closure, it will begin January 17 and be extended one week at the end. The order was for 6 weeks therefore it will run until February 21. 

HES Merchandise orders– Some items were back-ordered before Christmas. We are told they are currently in production and we are awaiting their delivery date in the very near future. We will advise you when they arrive. Our apologies for the delay.

Principal's Email to Families - January 7, 2024

Greetings Hampton Elementary School Families,

Happy New Year! We hope that all enjoyed a wonderful time with family and friends. We are looking forward to seeing all our students tomorrow! We begin the week with our team teaching lessons to review our to S.O.A.R. in every part of our school. We focus on having Self-control, being On-task, showing Achievement, and demonstrating Respect. This ensures that we are living our school vision of:

Helping   Everyone   Soar!

Winter Clothing - A gentle reminder that winter has arrived and students are asked to dress

appropriately with hats, mittens/gloves, warm coats, winter boots, snowpants. It is also encouraged to

have a change of clothes in their bookbags to leave at school as there is a need to have dry clothes on

hand.

evening, Jan.11th at 6:30pm in the Library.

Principal's Email to Families - December 17, 2023

Greetings HES Families, 

This is our last week of school before the Holiday break! We would like to thank all our families for your ongoing support. Our students have done an excellent job this Fall living our Hawk’s Honour Code. We are so very proud of their hard work. 

On behalf of our staff, we wish you a safe and happy Holiday break and a Happy New Year! 

HES Winter Concert – Our students, student leader teams, choirs and drama clubs have been hard at work preparing for our Winter Concert. All our classes have their Seasonal Artwork on display both inside and outside the gym. Check out the student entries from our bookfair contest as well as our grade 5 Snow Globe contest entries for our program design. Thank you to Ms. LeBlanc, Ms. Richarson, Mrs. Branch, and Mrs. Henry for all your work organizing and coaching our students! 

Monday, December 18 (storm date Thursday, December 21) 

 * 9:00am for our Gr. 3-5 English classes (3Kennedy, 3Salgado, 4Harlow, 4Shannon, 5Bond, 5Smith) 

* 10:45am for our Gr. 3-5 French Immersion classes (3Aubin-Martin, 3Schofield, 3Bentley, 4Bradshaw, 4Vallis, 5Kelemen, 5Melanson) 

* PLEASE NOTE: Doors will open one half hour prior to each performance 

* Parking for the performances – We recommend parking at the Hampton Community Centre and walking over as parking spaces will be limited in the school lots. You may not park on both sides of School Street as the road must remain passable for traffic and buses. 

Best Seats in the House Tickets for the Winter Concert – Thank you to all the families who supported this initiative. We raised $434.00 dollars for the Hampton Food Basket! Congratulations to Tammy Simpson and to Jessica Janes who are the lucky recipients of the Best Seats in the House, Reserved Parking, Hot Chocolate and Treats! 

Harvey Studios School Photo Retake Orders – Harvey Studios advised that they had some printing issues resulting in delays in a chemical order for their printing machines and this has been remedied. They hope to deliver the retake orders to us this week. 

Grinch Day Tuesday, Dec.19th – We are having our annual Grinch Day on Tuesday, Dec. 19th! Students will enjoy a day of learning through literacy activities supported by the Hampton High School Leadership Students. Everyone is invited to dress like a Who from Whoville! Thank you to Ms. Harlow and Mrs. Kennedy for organizing this event! 

HES Clothing and Merchandise - We expect to receive your order mid-week and will send them home to families as soon as they arrive. HES Home and School Java Moose Coffee Fundraiser – A note for families that the Java Moose Coffee orders will be sent home with students on Monday. Large orders are awaiting pick up in the office during school hours. 

Pizza Hot Lunch – With the cancellation of one week of pizza, the last week for this current round will be Dec. 20 instead. However, we will still run the ordering for the next round of pizza from Dec.8-18 to ensure we have it ordered in time for our return in January. Orders will be available for purchase from Dec.8-18. Paper order forms can be picked up in the office. 

**Correction to the Pizza order information: it will be for 6 weeks for $12/1 slice or $24/2 slices for the dates of Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31, Feb. 7, 14/2024. Apologies for the confusion. 

Friday, Dec.22nd ½ day for students – Friday, Dec.22 nd is a ½ day for students. The buses will load at approximately 11:30am. Please ensure you have arrangements in place for your child; if you will be picking up your child, we ask that you advise their teacher in advance of Friday. 

Community Events ~ 

Rotary Club of Hampton – Barrel of Socks Campaign – Hampton Elementary has been asked to help collect new socks, mitts, scarves, toques, etc for the less fortunate. We will have a box in the lobby to help collect these items, if you wish to contribute to the Rotary Club’s campaign
