This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School.
Congratulations to our Chess Club students – 1 of our students, Orri Gionet, placed first place in his grade level and will be representing our school at the Provincial Chess Championship in the New Year! Way to go Max, Quinn, Orri, Sam, Mitchell and Jack for your participation in this event!
Our library is closing for the holidays. Please return all books next week so we may do a final inventory over the last week. We do this as we have found in the past, books go missing over the busy holidays while families are travelling and visiting family and friends.
School Christmas Concerts: Wednesday, December 13th. There will be two concerts again this year at 8:45 a.m. for last name A-K and 10:30 for last name L-Z. We will gladly accept donations to the Hampton Food Basket in lieu of an admission fee. Also a reminder if the weather does not cooperate: in the event of a one hour delay, both concerts would be delayed by one hour (9:45 and 11:30). If school is delayed by more than an hour or if school is cancelled, our concert will be postponed until the following Monday, Dec. 18th. A reminder about our VIP/best seat in the house fundraiser. Winning ticket will be drawn Tuesday afternoon! Winning tickets receive reserved parking and preferred front row seating and a few treats. The funds raised will be used to support our Kids Helping Kids Program and the Hampton Food Basket.
Triathlon Medal Contest Students are invited to produce a unique design for the Hampton Ladies Triathlon medal. All entries must be received before the holidays.
Photos from Harvey’s: If you haven’t received your photos, please contact the office.
Lost and Found: Our lost and found will be available in the hallway heading to the gym all week. Please check it out when you are visiting the school for the concert.
The time of year is approaching where you, as parents, will want to be informed about weather concerns. A web link, ASD-S Inclement Weather Information is placed on all school websites that will be linked to the information provided by Ms. Watson, our district Superintendent.
KIDS HELPING KIDS (Caught you Caring): For many years we have come up with a plan that encourages empathy and compassion in the students’ lives leading up to the holiday season. This is a special program that recognizes students who are "caught" helping a fellow student in need or doing a deed for others. We have decided to post these on the wall outside the gym. Please take a moment to celebrate all the wonderful acts of caring happening at Hampton Elementary School. We have an amazing group of kids and I am so proud of each and every one of them for spreading their kindness.
French Immersion Programming for 2018-2019: This message is for parents of students currently in kindergarten, grade 2 and grade 5. This year parents will register their children for French Immersion programs using an online registration form. Registration deadline is January 30, 2018. Only those registering for French Immersion programs need to register. If your child will be continuing in the English Prime program, no action is required. Parents of students in grade 5 who are already enrolled in French Immersion do not need to do anything as these children will be continuing in F.I. in Grade 6.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS (Cost associated):
After school Robotics: The Robotics after school program will be running a Winter term this year. This is an ongoing program where prior students may enroll again to continue on their Robotics levels. It is also open to brand new students who are interested in learning about and creating Robotics. More info can be found in the attached brochure.
Poley Mountain Ski program: Forms available through the office. Transportation and Supervision is the responsibility of the parent.
