This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Here is your weekly edition of the HES Hawk Squawk. The storm closure this week was the 4th school closure of this winter. Last year we were over 8 days by this point in the year.

As part of Nutrition Month, ASD-South is promoting the theme “Go with the Flow, Drink H20”. We also were able to provide fruit and veggie trays again this week to all classes in order to promote healthy eating. We continue to share healthy eating tips on our morning announcements this week and are also continuing to catch students eating healthy with ballots on our Healthy Eating Tree!

REPORT CARDS: The Second Term report cards will go home at the end of the day on Monday. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday evening 4-7PM and Thursday morning 8:30-11AM. There is no school for students on Thursday due to Parent teacher conferences. In addition, schools are closed for Good Friday, March 30 and Easter Monday, April 2.
If you are looking to meet with one of our specialist teachers over the Parent Teacher Conferences there time is as below. Please call the school at 832-6021 to make an appointment or arrange through the classroom teacher:
Mrs. Hill (music) – unavailable for parent teacher
Mrs. Henry (phys. Ed & music) – available both Wednesday PM and Thursday AM
Mr. Raymond (Eng to FI & SS) – available ONLY Wednesday PM
Mrs. Laird (Guidance Teacher) – available ONLY Thursday AM
Mrs. Stewart – available both Wednesday PM and Thursday AM

BOOK FAIR: We are looking for family or community members to volunteer at our Book Fair. Our Book Fair will run during school hours on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 28th. We are also looking for volunteers on Wednesday evening between 4pm -7pm and Thursday morning March 29th between 8:30am-11am. Any amount of time you are willing to offer is greatly appreciated. Please e-mail Nicole Leblanc at nicole.fougere-leblanc@nbed.nb.ca indicating your availability if you are able to assist. Students will be coming home with a “Paws for Books” flyer highlighting some of the many books that will be available at our upcoming Scholastic Bookfair.
PARENT POWER NIGHT: We are so excited to announce our Second Annual Parent Power Night. We will be a wonderful panel of experts to share Mental Health information on Anxiety and parenting tips! This event is open to anyone of school age children. The event takes place at Hampton Elementary April 19th 6:30-8PM. Childcare in the form of Mindfulness Activities for Kids is available on a limited basis. Parents attending the session who would like their child to be cared for *should* register their child by calling 832-6021. This event is hosted by our PSSC but is open to all parents of ASD South students!

TOP 10 FINALIST: We discovered this week we have made it as a top 10 finalist to the Super Power Your School Staples contest. One elementary school out of the top 10 in Atlantic Canada will win $20 000 for their school technology needs. The winning school will be announced closer to Earth day in April – fingers crossed for HES as this is the 4th year we are finalists.

After School Activities: There are no after school activities taking place next week. Robotics begins a new session Friday, April 6th. This Spring session is offered to both NEW and CONTINUING Robotics students. The spring Session will start April 6-June 15th (10 weeks).
