This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School with your weekly edition of the H.E.S. Hawk Squawk. Highlights for this week include: Career Expo, UNICEF, Open Library, Milk Orders, Book Fair and Remembrance Day!
Thank you to those parents/families who have already signed up for our Annual Career Expo for next week as part of Atlantic Career Week. We can still accept a couple more volunteers if you are interested in sharing your career with our 275 students. You do not have to be a parent – we welcome all members of the community to share their profession with our students. Please call the school 832-6021 or email nancy.long@nbed.nb.ca or sarah.blanchard@nbed.nb.ca if you are able to participate. Atlantic Canada Career Week (Nov 4-9th) website is www.atlanticcanadacareerweek.ca.
Next week we have students and teachers who are coordinating fundraising for UNICEF. Monday is Hat Day, Tuesday is Black and Orange Day, Wednesday is pajama day, Thursday is Jersey Day and Friday is Tie dye Day. You may donate once for the entire week of activities.
Trash Tracker: Our CBC video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn79qXHbpI4 For those of you who may not be aware, Hampton Elementary has been a longtime supporter of composting, recycling (plastics, cardboard, paper, metal and milk). In this experiment, the kids did an audit of what was placed in the “garbage”. The students were not happy to find many WHOLE bananas, apples and unopened apple sauce containers. They plan to share announcements with the whole school to improve our process!
Open Library: Please note slight change. On Tuesday, open library will be for students in Grade 2 and 3. On Thursday, open library is for students in Grade 4 & 5.
MILK ORDERS: Milk Orders are now available on the School Cash Online system!
The Fall Book Fair is coming up soon! Class visits will be held on Nov.22nd - 23rd and the Book Fair will also be open during parent/teacher conferences. If you would like to volunteer for any of these dates or would like to help with the Book Fair please email Mme. Leblanc nicole.fougere-leblanc@nbed.nb.ca
Remembrance Day Ceremony: On the day of our Remembrance Day Assembly (Nov. 8th), we are asking students who participate in Sparks, Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, Cadets, etc to wear their uniform (or bring it to change at school). These students will form an honor guard and welcome the student body entering the gym at the entrance doors.
Home and School:
· Used Clothing Donations: Our Home and School will be POSTPONING the used clothing drive (new date is November 25th which coincides with Parent Teacher Meetings as well as the Holiday Extravaganza). It is a great opportunity to clear out your closets before the winter. All clothing will be weighed and money will be donated to the playground fund.
Upcoming Dates:
Ø Nov. 9th – Full day Professional Learning (no school for students)
Ø Nov. 5-9: Atlantic Career Week
Ø Nov. 12th – Remembrance Day Observation (No school for students)
Ø Nov. 19th – First Report Card Distributed
Ø Nov. 21st – 23rd Scholastic Book Fair
Ø Nov. 22nd & 23rd - Parent Teacher Interviews
Have a great weekend!

What’s happening in the Community?
Go-Go is hosting a (drop off event) Halloween Party - 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Sara Burns Police Memorial Fund. The party will take place on Saturday, October 27th from 1:00-3:00pm at Fairvale Elementary School. $20 donation per child for two hours of supervision and entertainment!
Sara Burns was one of the two police officers who lost their lives in the shooting in Fredericton on August 10th, 2018. The fund was created in her name to support people in need in the community.
The Go-Go Halloween Party will include gymnastics, bouncy castles, parachute games, pizza & is for children 4-12 years old. Come join the fun & support a great cause!
