Schools Closed Monday, November 12th – Remembrance Day Observation

This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School with your weekly edition of the H.E.S. Hawk Squawk. Highlights for this week include: summary of the week, Professional Learning Day, Remembrance Day, Parent Night, Milk Orders and Book Fair Volunteers.
On Friday morning, students enjoyed learning about various professions and also exploring the 5th annual career fair expo as a kick off to Atlantic Career Week. Thank you to our many volunteers that made this enrichment event so successful. We also were able to raise money this week for the UNICEF organization. It’s amazing how quickly the change adds up – together we do amazing things at HES! Next week we acknowledge Atlantic Canada Career Week (Nov 4-9th)
Important Date: There is no school for students on Friday, November 9th. This is a full day of professional learning for teachers. Schools are closed on Monday, November 12th in observation of Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Day Ceremony: On the day of our Remembrance Day Assembly (Nov. 8th), we are asking students who participate in Sparks, Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, Cadets, etc to wear their uniform (or bring it to change at school). These students will form an honor guard and welcome the student body entering the gym at the entrance doors.
WEDNESDAY Parent Night – November 14th6:30PM-7:30PM Do you have questions about the new report card? Our school is hosting an information session for all parents. This session will detail the history of the changes with the new report card and provide an understanding of the proficiency scale.
MILK ORDERS: Milk Orders are now available on the School Cash Online system, the due date is not until Nov 15th so you have lots of time to get your orders in. Round 2 begins November 19th.
The Fall Book Fair is coming up soon! Class visits will be held on Nov.22nd - 23rd and the Book Fair will also be open during parent/teacher conferences. If you would like to volunteer for any of these dates or would like to help with the Book Fair please email Mme. Leblanc nicole.fougere-leblanc@nbed.nb.ca
Home and School:
·         Used Clothing Donations: Our Home and School will be hosting a used clothing drive (November 25th) which coincides with Parent Teacher Meetings as well as the Holiday Extravaganza). It is a great opportunity to clear out your closets before the winter. All clothing will be weighed and money will be donated to the playground fund.
Upcoming Dates:
Ø  Nov. 19th – First Report Card Distributed
Ø  Nov. 21st – 23rd Scholastic Book Fair
Ø  Nov. 22nd & 23rd - Parent Teacher Interviews

Have a great weekend!
