This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Here is your weekly edition of the HES Hawk Squawk.
BOOK SWAP: As part of National Literacy Day we had a great book swap. We were even able to include our Preschool students as we had many preschool books donated as well. Thanks to all the students who dressed up this week as their favourite book character! We also had some great entries in our “draw your favourite scene from a book” activity.
PINK SHIRT DAY (OPTIONAL ONLY): Orders due by Jan 31st. This is optional, as we know students may be interested if they know they do not have any pink however, many others have a myriad of pink to choose from! Pink day is later in the month (February 28th). The school does not receive any amount of money for this but it does support local Key Industries which provides services to empower persons with a disability to achieve social, community and economic independence.
Good Morning! Breakfast/Transition program: Mrs. Thorne and volunteers invite those students with permission to meet in the art room/breakfast room each morning between 7:50-8:20AM. Please remind your child if you have determined they require this service.
Milk Order forms will go home on Monday and are due by Thursday. This represents a period of 40 school days. The cost is $20 for white milk or $22 for chocolate milk.
FEBRUARY CALENDAR & NEWSLETTER: Please stay tuned for the February edition of the HES Calendar and newsletter. It will be sent on Wednesday by email. If you require or wish to have a hard copy, please call Mrs. Nancy Long in the office and she will send one home with your child.
DEADLINE FOR FRENCH IMMERSION REGISTRATION: The deadline for FI registration is this Wednesday. The system is online. Please call the school if you have any questions or need help navigating this system.

What’s happening in the Community?
Athletics New Brunswick is proud to announce the return of the Run Jump Throw Wheel Indoor Series. Last season was the inaugural event for the indoor version of the series and was very popular with over 100 young athletes coming out to compete. It is our hope to continue to build on the success of last season and keep more young athletes involved in the sport over the course of the winter.
The Series will once again consist of several regional RJTW competitions, which are open to all athletes ages 8-13, with the top 8 finishers in each event qualifying to compete in the RJTW Atlantic Championships. The Championship meet will be at UdeM campus in Moncton this year on Sunday, March 11, to coincide with the Atlantic Indoor Championships. The Atlantic Championships will serve as the culmination event of the series.
Athletes are also able to qualify through any school meets/challenges or any other meet hosted by a community group/organization. For interested parties, anyone is capable of hosting a Regional Meet and we encourage schools, recreation organizations and other groups to host a meet/challenge themselves to prepare their athletes for Atlantics. ANB will provide support in the form of an easy guide on running a meet, along with ribbons and qualifying tickets!
