September 20
Tuesday, September 12, 2017

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your Tuesday talk mail. We are in enjoying our second week of school and students are settling in beautifully!

For the month of September and October, we are focusing on the Being Safe component of our Code of Conduct. We will be practicing our first fire evacuation on Thursday morning (weather permitting). Our school lockdown will be practiced the last week of September.
Another component of our Code of Conduct is to Be Kind. We model and encourage this every day of the year. Rebecca Schofield is a 2017 Riverview High School graduate who is battling brain cancer.  As part of her bucket list, she had the dream to make the world a better place through acts of kindness as a part of her #BeccaToldMeTo campaign. Schools from all around New Brunswick have been challenged by Riverview High School to set a goal of one random act of kindness per student as part of Becca Schofield Day on September 16th.   We at Dr. A.T. Leatherbarrow would like to accept this challenge and send it out to all families in our school to commit at least one random act of kindness on Saturday, September 16th. We are sending home a letter to tell you more about this challenge and how you may participate.
Hot lunch and milk order forms will be sent home next Monday, September 18th and will be due back next Thursday, September 21. Milk and hot lunch will begin the week of September 25th. We will offer Angelos pizza on Wednesdays and Mama George’s hamburgers on Fridays.
Home and School’s Fall Fundraiser has begun! Norcard catalogues were sent home with your child. As with all fundraisers, there is no obligation to purchase or participate. If you would like to support the fundraiser, please have all orders in by September 29th. Home and School has set up online ordering so students may sell to interested friends or relatives who may live outside of Hampton.
A reminder that next Wednesday, September 20th, is a half day for students as staff will participate in Professional Learning regarding the new elementary provincial report card that students will be receiving in November.
Finally, next Friday September 22 is Picture Day! I thought I would give you plenty of notice as you may want to wash that favourite outfit for that day! We have sent home a right to information form for you to check with whom we can share information. One of the places we have asked for your permission is with Harvey Studios. It is important that you give us this permission and send the form back before picture day if you wish your child to have school photos taken. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at the school.
That’s it for today. Thanks for listening. Enjoy your evening!
