Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your Tuesday talk mail.
The weather has certainly changed and it has been very cold outside, especially in the mornings. Please ensure that your child is properly dressed for the weather and comes to school with a hat, mittens, warm coat and proper outdoor footwear. If it is wet outside, please also send rain pants. We believe it is important for our children to play and learn outside, and we are committed to getting the students outside at least 3 times a day, even if it is wet or cold, so please send extra socks, mittens, underwear, pants and shirts so students can change out of wet clothing and be comfortable to learn inside the classroom. Snow will be here soon (maybe even tonight) so you may want to dig out old, or shop for new, snowsuits or snow pants as these will definitely be needed on the playground.
Many of you have asked about hot lunch. For the month of November, we will offer whole wheat cheese pizza and carrot sticks on Wednesdays. Our PSSC and our Home and School are continuing to work on finding healthy hot lunch options, and we hope to offer other hot lunch options in the coming months.
The 8th annual Runway Run at the Saint John Airport is this Saturday, October 27.  There are 2 events:  a 5 km run and a Little Monster Dash Kids Fun run of 1 km. The kids' run begins at 12:15 and the 5 km run begins at 12:30. Runners for the kids’ race can register that day, but adults must sign up through raceroster.com and search for YSJ Halloween 5k. You are invited to wear a Halloween costume for this unique running opportunity! Mrs. Brenton will be there representing Leatherbarrow and hopes to see some of you there!
That’s it for today! Thanks for listening!
