Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your Tuesday talk mail.
Thank you for coming to Parent/Teacher and thank you for supporting our Scholastic book fair. Thanks to your support, we will be able to purchase $300.00 of books for the school.
Skating starts next week! Skating permission forms will be sent home this week. In order to skate at the rink, students must wear a helmet, skates, warm mittens and snow pants. Unfortunately, because of new safety guidelines, we are unable to loan helmets. We do have a few pairs of skates that we can lend, so please contact your child’s teacher if you need to borrow skates. Please do not wait until the day your child skates to request a pair of skates. We have several children skating on each day and we won’t be able to coordinate who gets to borrow the skates when on the day of skating. If you are able to help assist with skating, either by transporting bags, walking with us to the rink, or helping to tie skates, please contact your child’s teacher. We’d love to have your help! Skating costs are covered by your child’s student fee.

Usually, at this time of year, we ask for you to bring a food donation to our Christmas concerts, happening on December 19th, but this year we are going to ask if, instead, you can donate food for 2 new school wide initiatives:
The first initiative is our school wide Christmas dinner taking place on Tuesday, December 18th. We are looking for 15 large turkeys, ten 10 lb bags of potatoes and 16 2lb bags of carrots. Please see the Leatherbarrow Home and School Page for details.

The second initiative is “Two Can Dance,” our first annual food drive to strengthen our bodies and help our community at the same time! This initiative will take place December 3-7th. For this, we ask that you please donate 2 canned goods for your child to use as weights to strengthen his or her arm and shoulder muscles while they dance in Phys.ed! These cans that will be used to strengthen our bodies, will be used to nourish others’ bodies as we will donate them all to the Hampton Food Bank after we finish using them.

That’s it for today! Thanks for listening!
