Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary School with your Tuesday talk mail.

Thank you to all of you who are using our Safe Arrival Program to notify us when your child is going to be absent or late. We really appreciate knowing that when your child is not here at school in the morning, they are home safe with you. Safe Arrival can also be used to let us know if you have to pick your child up early for an appointment. We always recommend that you also send your child’s teacher a note to let them know if your child is being picked up for an appointment.

Today, we are sending home a letter with your child’s username, password, and student number. Please keep this in a place you will be able to easily access it for parent/teacher meetings, conferences, or bussing information.

Thursday is Orange Shirt Day, a national day for truth and reconciliation. On Thursday, we will share the story of Phyllis Webstad and her orange shirt.  I am attaching a link to this story if you would like to watch it. We will discuss the importance of kindness, respect, diversity, and reinforce that every child matters. We encourage all students to wear orange on this day.

In keeping with our focus of Be Safe, we will practice our school lockdown on Friday morning. At this young age, I tell the students that we practice lockdowns so we will need to know what to do if an animal ever came into the school and we needed to get it out safely.

On Friday afternoon, weather permitting, each class will participate in a Terry Fox walk.

Finally, a reminder that student school supply fees are due on Thursday. If you are unable to pay the entire fee at once, that is no problem at all, just please contact the school to work out a payment program.

That’s it for today. Thanks for listening. Have a great day!
