This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School.

Word of the Week – Our first word of the week was agile – meaning to be able to move your body quickly and easily.

The Hampton Elementary School Healthy Lunch program is coordinated by the Home and School Association. If there are concerns or feedback, you may contact them directly at hes.homeandschool@gmail.com or specifically hes.healthylunch@gmail.com

This week we had our second Practice Fire Drill. The students continue to improve on their time exiting the building quickly and quietly.

Picture Day – All forms were due today with Harvey Studios picking the forms up. Retakes have been scheduled for November 4th.

Morning Open Library continues this week on Monday with students gathering from 7:50-8:10 in the library for some quiet reading time to start their day. Morning Open Gym also continues this week with Grade 5 students on Tuesday morning, Grade 4 students on Wednesday morning and Grade 3 students on Thursday mornings.

This week in extracurricular events, we have the Grade 5 Soccer Jamboree on Tuesday afterschool (2:45-3:45) and another Cross Country meet on Wednesday at 3:15.

Student fees and school supply fees ($60) are collected each fall to help cover the cost of consumable school supplies, skating program, visiting performers and authors, and agendas. These are due by the end of this week. If you require a payment plan, please contact the school to arrange.

Jennifer Kruger from Estey Art Creations will be running an afterschool art program for students beginning Tuesday, Sept. 27th. Parents are responsible for picking up their child. Interested students can receive more information or sign up at jennifer@esteycreations.com

TERRY FOX: This week we are collecting Toonies for Terry. In 2014 we raised $375 and last year we raised $428.50. This year we are setting our fundraising goal of $500. All week we will be adding to our fundraising thermometer outside the gym. Please help us to reach our goal. On Friday we will be honouring Terry Fox with a school walk through the beautiful trails around our school.

On Friday, our Grade 3 students will be visited by Author Kate Inglis. Kate Inglis is an author of the YA pirate adventure novels The Dread Crew, nominated for Hackmatack and Red Cedar Awards, and its sequel Flight of the Griffons. Kate lives on the south shore of Nova Scotia.  http://www.kateinglis.com/zombie/

Planned Pick Ups during the Day: All students who are being picked up should have a note

Chess Club: This year’s ASD-South chess tournament will take place in late Fall. As a result of this change, we would like to start our school based chess clubs the week after Thanksgiving. If you are interested in supervising this club (with or without Chess Experience), please contact me at sarah.blanchard@nbed.nb.ca This club runs from 11:50-12:35 one lunch hour per week.
