Good Fit Book  - Fog Lit Festival

The Fog Lit Festival, Saint John Free Public Library, Kennebecasis Public Library, the Saint John Mill Rats, and Anglophone School District – South have partnered together to host ‘Good Fit Book’, a fun and interactive reading program for grade 4 students to get them excited about and interested in reading. This year, FogLit will be working with grade 4 students from Prince Charles, Saint John the Baptist King Edward, Quispamsis Elementary School and Rothesay Elementary School.

We have asked high school students from Saint John High School, St Malachy’s Memorial High School, Kennebecasis Valley High School and Rothesay High School to join the grade 4 students as mentors and guides to help the younger students find the right book – their ‘good fit’ book. The Saint John Public Library – Central Branch in Market Square and Kennebecasis Public Library staff have developed an interactive scavenger type event to guide the students through the libraries to increase their comfort and familiarity with the library and to help them find books of interest, whether they are drawn in by fiction, non-fiction, how to books, comic books, magazines, etc. The students will discover there is a book for everyone; you just need to find out which ones are of interest to them. We would like to thank FogLit, the Public Library, the Saint John Mill Rats, and the participating schools for wanting to help and for helping us meet our literacy goals.
