The Students of KVHS voted yesterday with the following results:

Blaine Higgs – 419 votes PC Party

Ryan Jewkes – 38 votes CP

Aaron Kennedy - 266 votes Liberal Party

Keith Porter – 38 votes People’s Alliance

Mark Woosley – 89 votes Green Party

Voter Turnout 82% of student body voted vs 67% eligible voters across province.

Total number of votes cast 862, Total valid votes 850.  Total rejected ballots 12

GUIDANCE:

There are three university visits happening this week:  Wednesday, September 26^th at 12:30 - Acadia University. Thursday, September 27^th at 12:30 – St. Mary’s. Friday, September 28^th at 9:00 – Ivey School of Business.

All these visits will take place in the Workroom.

EVENTS:

Thank you to those students who purchased a ticket for a chance to win a “Leave 5 Minutes early Pass” for K D Day.  The winners are Kate Henderson (Grade 12), ticket #426004 (Grade 11), ticket 426010 (Grade 9), ticket 190002 (Grade 9).  No tickets were purchased by Grade 10 students so all tickets were resubmitted for the 4^th draw.

Hilite Gallery Graduation Portrait sign-up sheets are located at the School Office.  Come pick a time to have your Grad Portraits starting October 18^th.

CLUBS – TEAMS

Fitness Club will begin in October in the Fitness Center, after school.  Show up for an interest Meeting on Thursday, September 27 in Mr. Standring’s Room – 120.

Ping Pong Club will start soon.  Come out to an Interest and planning meeting today in Mr. Standring’s Room – 120!

There will be a Come one – Come all, no experience needed Improv Meeting today afterschool in the lower lobby for anyone who thinks they might be interested!  Come on out for our first meeting of the school year!

Cyber Titan Practice today after school and Wednesday at lunch.  Room 285.

Car Club:  There will be a short Car Club meeting afterschool in Room 280.

There will be a Debating meeting Tuesday at 12:30 in Room 004.  New members are welcome!

Attention Reach for The Top Players.  All new Reach for The Top players are invited to practice today at lunch in room 228.  All other players practice in Room 230.  There will be a practice, for all Reach Players after school.

Hey International Students! There will be an International Club meeting on Tuesday at 12:30 in Mrs. Mawer’s Room (002).  Everyone is welcome to come!

MUSIC - DRAMA – THEATRE – ART

Jazz Band will be rehearsing today after school in the Music Room.

All students and staff are invited to the Concert in the Park on Wednesday at 6:30.  If it rains, the Concert will be at 6:30 on Thursday.  Admission is by donation.  Come out to see some fantastic student entertainment and to eat some yummy grilled cheese.

Attention all Cast Members of “Nothing Is the End of the World”:  There will be a brief but important meeting at 12:30 in the Cafeteria.  Mr. Sutton will meet you there.

SPORTS

The Girl’s softball team beat Simonds High 14 -2 yesterday!  Awesome job girls!

Could the Grade 11/12 Field Hockey Team see Mr. Doiron now in room 291.

JV Girls Soccer won a hard fought game against HVHS 11- 0!  Shots were scored by Megan Whalen, Megan Craig, Meghan Morrison, Jordyn Washuk, Kaley and Isabel Jeon.

Attention Junior Boys Soccer Team:  You have a game at Fundy High School in St. George tomorrow at 5:30.  Make sure you organize yourselves with rides to get there!
