This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Here is your weekly edition of the HES Hawk Squawk. Our word of the week was alacrity which means to be brisk with cheerful energy!
There is always so much happening in our school – this week we had a special guest in Mme. Aubin-Martin’s class where students had the opportunity to dissect owl pellets. The students were able to reconstruct several rodents based on the bones they removed from the pellets. We also welcomed MacDonald Consolidated Grade 6. 7 & 8 students who shared their play “That Pumpkin Head Guy” a tale of the headless horseman! After school we had a great turnout for the movie “Sing” with over 100 students!
PARENT POWER NIGHT: We are so excited to announce our first Parent Power Night. We will be welcoming Dr. Sarah Gander, Dr. Beth Seamans, Cst. Beaulieu and Marlise Widdershoven to share technology and parenting tips! YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS THIS EVENT! It is open to anyone who cares for children who have access to technology from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Please encourage your friends to attend. The event takes place at Hampton Elementary April 11th 6-7:30PM. Childcare in the form of Coding for Kids is available on a limited basis with just a few spots remaining! Parents attending the session who would like their child to be cared for need to register their child by calling 832-6021. We will also have prizes to give away that evening including gift certificates for Angelos, Café 33, NAPA, Guardian, Tim Hortons and Irving.
After School Enrichment Opportunities beginning soon:
1. We are still taking registrations for this fabulous opportunity. **NEW** ROBO NORTH AMERICA - http://www.robonorthamerica.com/course/course_01_beginner.php Friday afterschool 2:45-4:45 (2 hours) April 21-June 21 (9 weeks) – cost is $160 + tax = $184 (max. 20 students). This includes 18 hours of instruction, a Robot kit (including $30 microprocessor) & downloadable workbook. See attachment for registration form.
CHANGE OF CLOTHES: We have had several students getting wet at recess time. We unfortunately do not carry spare clothes. It is a good idea to send along an extra pair of socks and perhaps a change of clothes for emergency.
Home and School News: Those families who ordered Kredls Veggie boxes are reminded to pick up their boxes at Kredls on Thursday, April 13th or Friday, April 14th.
Our weekly Hawk Squawk is always posted on our school website under the Synrevoice tab!
Have a great weekend!

Welcome to Doodle 4 Google Canada!
Doodle 4 Google Canada is a national contest inviting students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to redesign the logo for the Google.ca homepage for a day.*
As Canada blows out a whole lot of candles for its 150th birthday this year, what better way to celebrate than by asking students to imagine what the next 150 years will look like? Google believes our youth hold the key to a bright future for Canada, and can't wait to see what their optimism, creativity and imagination give rise to.
The winning doodle will be featured on the Google Canada homepage for 24 hours. The winning student will also receive a $10,000 university scholarship, a Google Chromebook, and a $10,000 technology award for their current school along with a trip to the final event on June 13, 2017
