*Robotics After School*

This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Here is your weekly edition of the HES Hawk Squawk. Our word of the week was kindred which means to be alike or allied. Today teachers were involved in our Annual General Meeting for the local New Brunswick Teachers Association Branch so there was no school for students.
This week we were very proud of our Choir students who were invited to perform for the Retired Teachers Association Meeting. Thank you to Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Henry for supervising the students.
Our Jump money has been tallied and we have surpassed our goal with over $3000 raised for the Heart and Stroke Foundation! During our kick off assembly we promised the students that staff members would be tapped to the gym wall as a FLY ON THE WALL if students reached various levels of fundraising! As a result of their efforts, both Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Stewart (in lieu of Mrs. Blanchard) will be taped to the wall in our assembly!
Home and School Reminders:
1, Hot lunch orders are due on the 20th of each month. If you are paying by etransfer, you may still squeeze in your order today.
2. Big Fair Day – we are currently collecting items for classroom baskets as part of our fundraiser. A small change to the letter sent home – instead of a silent auction, tickets sales will be used as the fundraiser for these baskets.
3. Donations for Big Fair Day – we are always looking for people to volunteer their time for Big Fair Day, but for those who are unable to do so, we suggest helping with donations. Items requested include: water, juice, prizes (dollar store items, trinket type items, loot bag prizes etc).

Afterschool Activities this week: Robotics After School will be on Friday next week.

Upcoming Dates:
Monday, May 29th – Grade 2 Parent Orientation to Hampton Elementary School
June 17th – Big Fair Day
June 20th – District Track and Field 9-1PM
June 22nd – Gr. 5 Farewell/Moving Up
June 23rd – Last day of school for students

Our weekly Hawk Squawk is always posted on our school website under the Synrevoice tab!
Have a great weekend!

Welcome to Doodle 4 Google Canada!
Doodle 4 Google Canada is a national contest inviting students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to redesign the logo for the Google.ca homepage for a day.*
As Canada blows out a whole lot of candles for its 150th birthday this year, what better way to celebrate than by asking students to imagine what the next 150 years will look like? Google believes our youth hold the key to a bright future for Canada, and can't wait to see what their optimism, creativity and imagination give rise to.
The winning doodle will be featured on the Google Canada homepage for 24 hours. The winning student will also receive a $10,000 university scholarship, a Google Chromebook, and a $10,000 technology award for their current school along with a trip to the final event on June 13, 2017 https://doodles.google.ca/d4g/

Hampton Flag Rugby Info Sheet
What: Flag Rugby is a non-contact co-ed version of rugby that is designed for youth. The sport is meant to help kids develop rugby skills, while having fun and being active with their friends. Practices will start off with some drills to practice various skills, after which we will break for a healthy snack provided by the coaches, and they will finish the day off with an actual game against each other. We are offering this program for kids ages 5-12 and the only equipment that you need is clothing and footwear that they can run around in (cleats are suggested, but not necessary).
When: The program begins on Saturday, May 20th and runs until Saturday, June 24th. Practices are every Saturday morning from 10:30am-12:00pm (note the youngest group will only go to 11:30am).
Where: All practices will be happening at Hampton High School on the soccer field closest to the baseball field and tennis courts.
How: Register by emailing hamptonflagrugby@gmail.com or by visiting “Hampton Flag Rugby” on Facebook and requesting a registration form. We will send you a registration and set something up to meet with you to collect payment. The cost of this activity is only $45 a child.
