This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Here is your weekly edition of the HES Hawk Squawk. Our word of the week was punctual meaning to arrive in good time. Tomorrow is the Hampton Splash and Dash! An event open to kids aged 3-13 years. This is a swim (or splash) in the Hampton pool followed immediately by a run. Registration on site at the Hampton Community Centre begins at 9AM with the Race start times beginning at 10AM. Good luck to all of our students who are participating in this fun event!
Here is a glimpse of Momma duck in our courtyard with her 12 ducklings! On Monday, we lined the hallways and outdoors to lead her to the water with her babies. It was a very special experience for all of our staff and students and the students exhibited huge restraint as the ducklings waddled past all 235 students sitting on the path towards the woods inside and outside of the school!
Year End Survey: The link to our annual "Year End Survey" is now live! Thank you to over 50 families who took the time to complete our survey so far. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback by Friday, June 16th. This information will be shared with our PSSC and staff to help guide our decisions in the school.
Last day of school: The last day of school has officially been announced as a half day for students (a full day for staff). Students will be dismissed at approximately 11:30AM.
LIBRARY: Our library is still looking for many of their books. Please dig in your closets and under your bed to see if you find any of our books.
HMS PLAY: On Monday, select classes are visiting Hampton Middle School to watch a dress rehearsal of their play.
BIG FAIR DAY: Monday, students will be taking home flyers for Big Fair Day. Admission to Big Fair Day is by punch cards - $10 for 10 punches. You can view the flyer attached for more details. It will be 1 punch for games, the bouncy castle, slides, and obstacle course. 3 punches for Zorbing (bowling or sumo suits). Pony rides will be $5 or 5 punches. The pony rides and food table will accept cash or punch cards. Punch cards will be on sale at the front office Monday to Thursday morning. Buy early to avoid lineups at the event. If you are able to volunteer for an hour or two, please send in your form or email the Home & School Association.
Friday is the last day for milk and also our Marigold Planting day.
Afterschool Activities this week: Robotics After School will be on Wednesday AND Friday next week.

TICKS: Below please find information on Lyme Disease in New Brunswick from Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health,  and the Canadian Pediatric Society.  These links address general information, as well as prevention strategies like wearing protective clothing, using insect repellant, and checking clothes and skin for ticks.

Upcoming Dates:
June 17th – Big Fair Day
June 20th – District Track and Field 9-1PM
June 22nd – Gr. 5 Farewell/Moving Up

What’s happening in the Community?
Carson is going to Akron, Ohio!!!
On Saturday, May 27th, Carson Hoyt, age 11, of Hampton, NB, placed first in his division in the Saint John Soap Box Derby. With the help of his pit crew (his Father, Greg, his brother, Devin, and his Cousin, Katie), Carson won a medal and a trophy. He also won a cash prize and has been invited to attend the All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship in Akron, Ohio. This event will take place July 16 - 22, 2017.
This will be a wonderful experience for Carson and his family (who will be attending as his "pit crew"). But this experience comes at quite a cost. Travel expenses, hotels and meals for a week quickly adds up.
We are asking for our great community to rally together and to make this happen for Carson. We are looking for business sponsors. We cannot put your name on the car itself as there are specific guidelines about what can and cannot be placed on the car. However, we will make sure your business is thanked publically and on this Facebook page. We are having team t-shirts made and the pit crew will proudly display your name all week during the races on these t-shirts. According to the Soap Box Derby regulations, the driver has to wear a specific race shirt, but the pit crew will be sporting your company's name.
If you are an individual who would like to sponsor Carson, please contact us using the information below. We will be sure that individuals are thanked publically as well.
