This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School.
Our first PSSC (Parent School Support Committee) meeting of the school year will be held Monday evening at 6:30PM in the school library. The role of this group of parent volunteers is to advise the school Principal and improve student learning by increasing family and community involvement in the school system. This group reviews school policies and learns behind the scenes information on how the school is run. The time commitment is approximately 1.5 hours one evening per month (Third Monday of the Month). PSSC members typically serve a three year term. We have 5 returning members and 2 new members. Please email me: sarah.blanchard@nbed.nb.ca if you would like to be part of this committee.
Thank you for remembering to send in your Milk Orders. The new milk order begins on Monday.
Student Picture Day is this Wednesday, September 20th! Harvey Studios will be here taking classes for their individual photos. Students will NOT be permitted to have their photo taken unless they have given permission and returned the signed RTIPPA form. This is also the day of our first half day dismissal so students will be sent home to the after school location we have on file UNLESS otherwise noted.
This coming week we will practice an unannounced fire drill. We are obligated to have 6 practice drills per year. In addition to our fire drill, we also practice our two other safety protocols including our off site evacuation and our secure the building drill which is often called a “lock down” drill. Teachers practice these with their children and refer to our fire drill and off site evacuation as our ‘outside’ safe locations and the lock down as our “inside” safe location.
Open Gym has begun with Grade 5 students on Monday morning, Grade 4 students on Wednesday morning and Grade 3 students on Friday mornings.
Please find attached instructions from our Home and School on the Healthy lunch program. Lunch will start Sept 25-Oct 31. Online orders are due by Wednesday, Sept. 20th.
A big congratulations to all our students who participated in the first Cross Country meet of the season. Cross Country Fun continues next week, Sept. 27th, Oct. 11th and Oct. 18th. The Oct. 4th run will take place at Reversing Falls Park in Saint John with Saint John Ed Centre students also participating. The grade 5 Soccer Jamboree will take place on Thursday, September 28th from 2:30-3:45 at KVHS for interested students.
Student fees and school supply fees ($60) are collected each fall to help cover the cost of consumable school supplies, skating program, visiting performers and authors, and agendas. These are due by the end of the month. If you require a payment plan, please contact the school to arrange. The deadline to submit fees is September 29th!
The Rainbows program will be offered this fall at Hampton Elementary, beginning in October. Rainbows is a YMCA program designed to support children who have experienced a significant loss in their lives such as a death, illness, family divorce/separation, or any another painful transition. If you feel your child could benefit from participating in this program or if you have questions, please contact our guidance counsellor, Ms. Laird at 832-6021 or email Dianne.Laird@nbed.nb.ca
