KVHS Morning Announcements
November 13, 2018
· On the Menu today in the Cafeteria: beef tacos with rice and corn, or baked penne pasta.
· All of Mme. Beach’s classes will be in the library today.
· To all grade 9 students who took art with Ms. Nicholson last quarter you can come get your art projects and sketchbooks this week at lunch.
· Attention Staff Yogis – our field trip today will be postponed due to the weather. Regular time and place today – 3:45pm in the mini gym – all welcome!
GUIDANCE
· Want to know more about university life from a former KVHS grad? Wondering if living away from home is for you? Come to the workroom on Thursday over the noon hour to hear all about university life?
· The University of New Brunswick will be here on Monday, December 3rd for on the spot admissions. Students must apply and pay online before attending. Please sign up in the Guidance Centre for an appointment time. 12/3
· The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership has arrived in the Guidance Office. Applications are available for pick up. They are due November 16th. 11/16
· Any Students interested in attending Queen’s University to study Commerce should check out the D & R Sobey Atlantic Admission Award posted in the Guidance Centre.
· Mount Allison University will be here on Monday, November 19th to have individual meetings with interested students: Please sign up in Guidance for an appointment time. If you meet with them, the recruiters will give you an online code that will waive the admission fee. 11/19
· Information on the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award (value $28000) is available in the guidance department. 11/16
EVENTS
· In support of Safe Grad 2019 – Jaryd Stanley in concert Thursday, December 6 at 7pm in the KVHS theatre. Tickets are $20 and are available in the KVHS office and at Guardian Drugs.
· Book Sale – Renaissance will be having its 10th annual Used Book Sale on Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17. The sale will open to KVHS staff and students after school. The sale runs on the Friday from 6-9pm and Saturday from 10am – 4pm in the KVHS cafeteria. If you have books to donate please bring them to Mrs. Wright in room 136 (math wing).
· Its that time of year again KV!! Come to the cafeteria to pick up your Operation Christmas Child boxes or to Mr. Rice’s advisory for more information.
CLUBS – TEAMS
· Chess – Attention Chess enthusiasts! KVHS Chess Club will be meeting on Thursdays at lunch time in Mr. Marin’s class (room 245, in the wing above the math wing). The district tournament is coming up in early December, so please see Mr. Marin if you are interested in attending.
· Me to We – a huge thank you goes out to all the staff and students who participated in the We Scare Hunger food drive! Together we collected over 620 food items for the local food bank! The winner of the school wide advisory drive is Mrs. Levesque’s advisory! You have won an advisory breakfast! Thanks again for all your support KV!
· Debate Team meets today at 12:40pm in Mrs. Toner’s room.
· Could all members of Renaissance please meet today, Tuesday November 13th in Mrs. Wright’s room, room 136. New members are always welcome!
MUSIC - DRAMA – THEATRE – ART
· Attention all Blue Tones members: tomorrow’s rehearsal will be for sopranos and altos only.
· KVHS Concert Band is selling Saint John Sea Dog flex tickets as a fund raiser. These are flex tickets that can be used at any home game until March 10. If you would like to purchase tickets please contact Ms. Palmer or any band member. The band will be playing the national anthem at the Sea Dogs game on Wednesday, November 21st. Come out to the game and support the band!
SPORTS
· All field hockey jerseys are to be returned to Mr. Doiron during or before Advisory in room 291. Senior team return uniforms to Mr. Morton.
· Attention Crusaders! Tonight is the hockey home opener against RHS. The girls game is at 6pm and the boys game is at 8pm. Come out to the Qplex decked out in blue and white to show your support! Admissions $2 for students.
