This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Here is your weekly edition of the HES Hawk Squawk.

Thank you to our teachers for sharing information and lessons with our students on what it means to be a responsible technology user in support of Internet Safety Week. If you haven’t had the opportunity to do so, please have a conversation with your child about what they can do to protect themselves in an online world.

Regular and Punctual School Attendance: There are no factors more important to successful school progress than regular and punctual school attendance. Students who attend school regularly learn more and are more successful in school than students who do not. Families who make regular school attendance a priority are also helping their children learn to accept responsibility, and that’s an important lesson for a successful life. At the end of each month, we verify attendance for every student and letters will be sent home to families of children who have missed more than 10 days (including excused absences). Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of the available school day. This week marks the half-way point of the school year and instruction only continues to increase in rigor.

Theatre NB: The Young Company presents: A Herman Tale on Tuesday for all students. A Herman Tale is the story of an under the bed monster who longs to play with the street monsters outside. It was written by Fredericton author Paul McAllister, and will be adapted for the stage by Young Company director Tania Breen. It’s very much a life lesson tale about trying new things, not letting failure get you down, and trying again while at the same time focusing on not letting one’s fears take control of your life.

Greenhouse Plant Sale: On Wednesday our Greenhouse team will be having a Plant Sale. This is a great opportunity for students to purchase a plant form someone they love. Prices range from $1-$3 depending on the size of plant.

Valentine’s Day: Wednesday is Valentine’s Day and students are welcome to wear Pink, Red and/or white if they want to.

Home and School E-News: The Home & School Association would like to thank everyone who completed the online survey. We had 57 responses. We appreciate the great input which we have already included in the hot lunch menu choices for March. The winner of the draw was Misty Gallant. The healthy lunch schedule is now open for the month of March.  A reminder that all orders and payments are due by February 20th.  When school is cancelled we credit your account for the cost of that day’s lunch.  When placing your next order you can use the credit against your order total.  Instead of paying the order total look at your account balance and pay that amount.  To find this click on "Orders" tab and then on "Account Transactions".  If you scroll to the bottom it will show your account balance, this is the amount you should pay. Any questions can be directed to: hes.homeandschool@gmail.com Staff appreciation week is next week.  Thank you to everyone who has donated items and will be bringing food.  Food items can be dropped off at the office each morning. Here are the themes of each day
Monday – Lunch (soups/chili and rolls)
Tuesday – Cheese/Meats and Crackers & dips
Wednesday –Pizza (provided by Home and School) and salads
Thursday – Fruit and Vegetables
Friday – Coffee, Muffins and Cookies
On February 15th we are showing the Emoji movie after school. Please remember to send in your permission slips.  A reminder that students need to be picked up at 4:30.

Afterschool Events: On Tuesday, we have Mad Science, Thursday is the Emoji Movie OR Poley Skiing, and Friday is Robotics. Lots of great extracurricular options for our students at Hampton Elementary!

Our weekly Hawk Squawk is always posted on our school website under the Synrevoice tab!
