This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Here is your weekly edition of the HES Hawk Squawk. This week students had a busy week back after the March Break and we expect the rest of the school year to continue at this pace. This week, we have been quite busy reviewing classroom and academic expectations, finishing up and passing in final work for evaluation, interviews as well as individual testing in reading. Making sure that students are well rested, eating well, being active and having time to relax, will greatly help in preparing your child at being their best in our learning environment.

We had a lovely performance from the Calithumpians on Thursday with the theme of learning about Canada. This presentation was sponsored through a Canada 150 Performing Grant.

As part of Nutrition Month, ASD-South is promoting the theme “Go with the Flow, Drink H20”. We also were able to provide fruit and veggie trays to all classes in order to promote healthy eating.

We discovered this week we have made it as a top 10 finalist to the Super Power Your School Staples contest. One elementary school out of the top 10 in Atlantic Canada will win $20 000 for their school technology needs. The winning school will be announced closer to Earth day in April – fingers crossed for HES as this is the 4th year we are finalists.

PSSC Meeting: On Monday, our PSSC will meet at 6:30 PM in the library.

SKATING: Our final round of skating concludes this week. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to tie skates and skate on the ice with the students. Your help was greatly appreciated!

After School Activities: Mad Science continues Tuesday and Robotics on Friday. There will be a Robotics make up class on Monday, March 19th (due to a previous cancelled session). A Spring session will be offered for both NEW and CONTINUING Robotics students. The spring Session will start April 6-June 15th (10 weeks).

News from the HOME & SCHOOL: A reminder that your orders are due on the 20th of March (Tuesday) for the Month of April Hot Lunch!
