This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Here is your weekly edition of the HES Hawk Squawk.
The week ahead is a busy one. We have our Grade 4 students beginning their Provincial Exams (beginning Monday and running until June8th), Students will be assessed in the areas of reading, math and science. Students should be well rested, have a good breakfast, nutritious snacks for school and of course, water!
Events for Grade 5 students: The Grade 5 students will be visiting Hampton Middle School on Monday with their peers where they will have an opportunity to tour the school and ask questions. Tuesday, the Grade 5 students have a special guest, Mr. Mark Perry visiting to discuss the Social Studies Topic: First Nations and Treaties. On Wednesday and Thursday, our English Grade 5 classes will take part in a Heart Lab for Health which our Grade 5 French Immersion classes has earlier this month.
PSSC Meeting and Grade 2 Open house: Our PSSC meeting will be Monday evening at 6PM in the library. We are inviting parents of new students to HES to come at 6:30PM for an information session and tour of the school. We will meet in the library.
Grade 4 Power will be releasing their Salmon fry on Friday, June 1st. They have done a wonderful job raising these fish and even adopted those from the Hammond River Angling Association when they lost power during the flood.
DATL Transition: Students from DATL have been joining us for Buddy Skipping with our Phys. Ed classes. On Friday, the current Grade 1 French Immersion and all Grade 2 students will be visiting HES for a tour and to visit our Grade 3 classes as part of their transition to our school for 2018-2019.
Disability Awareness Walk: HES will participate in a short walk at approximately 12:35PM on Friday. This campaign happened in response to a request from Rick Hansen following his Man in Motion World Tour. 2018 marks the 31st consecutive annual Disability Awareness Week in New Brunswick.
“I Read, We Read, H.E.S. Reads!” Did you know there are only 3 Fridays left before the end of the school year? At H.E.S we would like to unite with families and the community to boost students’ reading skills. Each Friday, you are welcome to join us from 8:15a.m. until 8:45a.m. to listen to our students reading. Reading aloud helps build fluency, improves comprehension and helps develop critical reasoning. The reader is more invested in the process and is more likely to think about what he or she is saying while reading. More importantly, reading aloud builds reading confidence!
Home and School Reminders:
