This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School with your weekly edition of the H.E.S. Hawk Squawk. Highlights for this week include: summary of the week, Christmas Concerts, Popcorn Day, Medal Designing, Diversity and Respect week.
REVIEW OF THIS WEEK: Thank you to families who attended our Parent Teacher Interviews. A good working relationship is vital in a student’ success. Thank you to all of our families for supporting our book fair. We receive a portion of the proceeds and teachers are able to purchase books for their classroom libraries. I would also like to recognize the work of our parent volunteers who help to make the book fair a positive shopping experience. Many families were able to see our BIG CHEQUE in the lobby for $100, 000 which we received from the Aviva Community fund!
We have been receiving many calls regarding our School Christmas Concerts. The date has been set for Wednesday, December 12th. There will be two concerts again this year at 9 a.m. for last name A-K and 11 a.m. for last name L-Z. A reminder about our VIP/best seat in the house fundraiser. Tickets will go on sale the week of Dec 3-7. Each child will be bringing home 6 tickets. (more are available at the office). Winning tickets receive reserved parking and preferred front row seating and a few treats. This year, the funds will be used to support our Playground fundraising!
Our Home and School is hosting a Popcorn Fundraiser on Thursday, Nov. 29th. Bags are $1 and they need to be preordered. All orders are due by Wednesday, November 28th.
On Wednesday we will have representatives at the school to discuss the benefit of triathlon sport for kids! They will be asking students to design a medal for the annual Hampton Ladies Triathlon which is a very successful triathlon held in our own backyard.
This week is recognized as Diversity and Respect Week, as part of a provincial effort to support a safe, welcoming and affirming environment for all New Brunswick students. Everyone has the right to learn and work in an environment that values each other’s strengths and uniqueness. During Diversity and Respect Week, schools engage in learning activities that foster an appreciation of diversity in our communities, such as: daily announcements and focused guidance lessons. All children in our schools should feel safe and have the opportunity to learn in a culture of respect; inclusiveness is fundamental to education. Diversity and Respect Week replaces Bullying Awareness Week promoted in New Brunswick schools since 2012.

What’s happening in the Community?
The Hampton High School SRC is trying to raise money for their leadership development fund. One of the fundraisers is a Christmas babysitting service. They will be hosting babysitting at HHS on Saturday, December 15th and Saturday, December 22nd, at which times there will be lots of supervision, crafts, games, and holiday fun. It's an excellent opportunity for parents to get some shopping or decorating done.
