Qualifications

Qualifications:
Graduation from high school including or supplemented by business education courses including computer courses and other courses relative to the position assignment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Proficiency in English and French is an asset but not required.
Rate of pay: $15.00/hour

Job Description

Saint John Education Centre, Anglophone South School District, in partnership with the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, invites applications for the following contract position:
 
Coordinator Assistant
(The Work Room)
Simonds High School
Part time position; 2 days per week; term contract to March 31, 2018 (Subject to renewal on yearly basis)
Additional hours may be required and will be compensated
Description:
The Coordinator Assistant would be responsible for interacting with the public to answer questions relating to programs and services available through the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour (PETL), Anglophone South School District and the Work Room Career Resource Centres.
 
The Coordinator Assistant would receive training on the programs and services offered in the south-western region of New Brunswick (Charlotte, Saint John and Kings Counties) and must be able to direct members of the public to the organizational representative or resource that would meet their information needs.
 
The Coordinator Assistant would also be required to assist the Work Room Coordinator with the operational requirements of the centre. This would include, but not limited to; maintaining a professional work environment, ensuring office resources are properly working and up to date and assisting clients accessing programs, resources and services available through the Work Room Career Resource network (www.careersthatwork.ca).
 
The Coordinator Assistant would also be responsible for; 
Specific duties:
·         Regular maintenance to ensure computers/fax/photocopiers are running properly
·         Keep up to date on phone messages and emails and respond/forward as deemed appropriate
·         Assist Work Room Coordinator in scheduling appointments
·         Keep up to date on job postings, career-related information and available resources
·         Keep track of resource materials that are loaned to the public
·         Assist clients with accessing Career Cruising website and job search links
·         Assist with research projects as required
·         Maintain supplies/inventory
·         Ensure information folders (calendars, brochures, pamphlets, etc.) are replenished and updated when required
·         Manage the Career Cruising member database including upgrading students each year
·         Assist with programs/workshops/presentations conducted through The Work Room (when required)
·         Travel to nearby centres to cover-off for sick time/vacation leaves (if required)
