Room 115, Ganong Hall, UNBSJ

About the Presentation: Children and adolescents who have difficulty at school can struggle in a numbers of ways. For example, they may have problems learning to read or remembering math facts. Some children struggle to attend and end up in trouble. Others have difficulty copying notes, remembering when assignments are due, and organizing themselves. All of these difficulties may lead to stress for parents and children. Parents may wonder why their children are having difficulty and want to know what they can do to help. During this presentation, Dr. Seamans will explore some of the reasons that children and adolescents may struggle in school. The presentation will highlight the common psychological, behavioral and intellectual disorders that are associated with academic difficulties. Dr. Seamans will also discuss how these disorders are assessed, diagnosed and what accommodations and options are available to support learning.
