“ It Takes a Village to Raise a Teen … A Family’s Journey to Mental Wellness.”

As parents, guardians, teachers, or mentors, we are all seeing and hearing about the increase in mental health concerns that are facing our teens today.  Mental health issues affect all of us regardless of our where we live and what we do. The impact is more than statistics and facts, it’s in feelings and emotions. It’s in our families, with our friends and in our communities. Having a mental disorder should not be any different than experiencing a physical illness. And it doesn’t have to be; we can help make a difference.

With this in mind, parents from the parents support committees of the four High schools in Saint John have worked together over the past several months to host an important evening.  This session will speak to the mental health concerns of raising a teen in todays’ society, address some of the resources that are available in our community and hear a mom’s powerful personal story of hope.
