Attention Grade 11’s:  Are you still on the fence about AP Statistics? AP Stats will be offered in 2nd semester next year.  Here is an example of how you can use this course – UNB will give you credit for Stats 1793 (a required course for a science degree and many arts degrees), STFX will give credit for Stats 101 and Dalhousie will give credit for Statistics 1060.  In University, Statistics is required for many majors, and strongly recommended for others.  Please see Mrs. Chaisson in Room 113 for more information.

More information:
Testing
 – Participants will be put through a set of tests in order to get baseline testing scores. Throughout the camp they will be working in certain areas to improve their scores.
Mobility/Recovery – Two very important components that are often forgotten about are mobility and recovery. We will discuss the importance of them and educate on how to recover properly after performing and how improving mobility can help prevent injuries.
Nutrition – This portion of the camp will allow athletes to realize how they should be preparing before games and training no matter what sport they play. There will also be a component which will allow participants to make healthy snacks and learn what should be incorporated into healthy snacks.
Coordination/Speed/Agility – It is the last minute of the game/match and the ball/puck is coming towards you. Do you have what it takes to bring it down and beat the person in front of you to score the game winning goal/point for you or your team? This section of the camp focuses on hand-eye coordination along with speed and agility and how to make yourself faster in order to be more successful.
Psychology – Stressed about games? Not sure what to expect from tryouts? A trained psychologist will come and speak with participants and parents on how to deal with the stress of tryouts and preparing for big games/events.
Strength – Whether you are boxing out, pushing someone into the boards, trying to push a player off of the ball or simply wrestling someone to the ground. The importance of strength in sport will be discussed as well as a workout that focuses on basic strength exercises to improve performance.
Power – Not quite high enough to win that rebound, head the ball, jump for the block or win that footrace? This portion of the camp aims to improve explosiveness.
