​River Valley Middle School would like to celebrate one of our teachers, Shelley Petit, who was selected to be the Feature Educator for WE Day Atlantic from all of the We Educators in Atlantic Canada and Eastern Quebec. She will attend the Evening of Champions the night before We Day Atlantic on November 30th. Mme Petit introduced the Me to We movement to River Valley and it was the first Me to We middle school group in the district. Through numerous fundraising and volunteer activities; such as; raising funds to build a school and a well in Nicaragua, collecting clothing and household items for Syrian refugees and local shelters, and giving over 6000 volunteer hours, the group and several students within the group have been recognized for their efforts when it comes to local and global citizenship. We want to thank Mme Petit for showing our students how to ‘Be the Change”.
