Continuity of Learning Plan

Dear ASD-S Families,

Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Dominic Cardy announced today that the 2019-2020 school year has been cancelled for this year, and the year will not be extended. Below you will find a letter from Minister Cardy outlining a plan for education during this time of school closures as a result of COVID-19.

Key to this document are the recommendations for continued home learning for students by grade level. We recognize that home life looks very different from one family to the next, and understand that following these recommendations consistently may be a challenge for some at this time. There are many opportunities to continue learning outside of the classroom, and we hope these recommendations will help your family feel empowered to engage in continued learning at home.

ASD-S is currently collecting information on the percentage of families with internet connectivity and a device to be used in home learning.   We will be exploring other options for those who will not be able to access learning using technology.    Your school will be in contact with you; it is important that they have your up to date email/phone number.

Thank you for your understanding as we work through this unprecedented time. Additional learning supports can be found on the GNB Family Resource page

or on the ASD-S website.

Zoë  Watson, Superintendent
