Dear ASD-S Families,

Re: Travel restrictions for K-12 students

With the recent move back to Orange phase across New Brunswick, the province has continued to update safety requirements in order to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Over the weekend the province announced that students travelling into New Brunswick from the US or another Canadian province due to formal custody or care agreements must now receive weekly COVID-19 tests.

New Brunswick offers two options for COVID-19 testing in children and youth. Find information about the process and what to expect here. For more information about testing and isolation after travel within Canada, or for those  who must travel out of province for medical appointments, please view the new requirements here.

Currently, as per provincial safety guidelines, those students travelling for the purposes of custody within Canada are not required to self-isolate upon their return to New Brunswick. However, students who travel for custody agreements across the Canada/US border are not permitted to return to school for 14 days upon entering Canada. If your child is self-isolating prior to returning to school, we ask that you notify their principal.

As always, we ask all students and their families, especially those travelling, to monitor for symptoms and contact 811 if they feel unwell.
